Hi My daughter just turned 1 in December so she can eat pretty much anything but i struggle with feeding her because I hate to give her the same thing over and over.
So what food do u give to your child that they love?

Spaghetti O's, Yams, Vienna Sausages, poached carrots, fish sticks, Baked fries - I pretty much avoided the Baby food isle and just got small containers for traveling. There is this great cookbook called Feed Me I'm Yours and it is a wealth of clever recipes geared for a child's pallet. Good Luck!

What I found is that little ones don't like things that are mixed - casseroles for example.

When my kids were small, I fed them whatever we were eating but perhaps in a different way. If we had raw veggies, for example, I might cook them a bit to soften them for a 1 year old.

This is the best time to get kids into healthy eating habits and to help them not be picky eaters. If they see you eating a wide variety of healthy foods, they'll learn to love variety and healthy foods will become "comfort" foods.

Also, if you want to save money and not wind up throwing food away, you might come up with a monthly menu - with most dinners on the list twice/month but separated by at least a week. Then you just buy the ingredients you know you'll use, you don't have to worry about "what's for dinner?" and you get a lot of variety.

Cheers!

Good luck!

I'm probably about the same as any parent.

The one thing I found my 1 year old really likes is the flake style imitation crab meat. The stuff doesn't have many calories, but is nutritious as it is mainly fish.

Other than that, we just cut up whatever we are eating. Sometimes we'll give her little cubes of cheese and sausage to munch on. Frozen peas and corn make for a good snack.

My 3 year old likes plain noodles, so we will give our 1 year old some boiled rotini pasta sometimes.

What about dairy products (yogurt, cheese, etc)? Would he eat a cheese quesadilla? I used to spread a thin layer of pureed veggies inside a cheese quesadilla for my son when he was little, or stir some pureed fruit or veggie into some yogurt. He also liked popsicles I made from 100% pureed fruit. In the meantime, keep offering foods he doesn't instantly like. Experts say it can take up to 20 or 30 exposures to a new food for a young child to learn to like it, so don't give up because he doesn't like something the first time. You can play the "one bite of this thing you don't like and then one bite of this thing you do like" game, as well. By the time he's about 2, though, you should stop offering him special foods and serve him what the rest of the family is eating. He can choose to eat it or not. He won't starve himself, I promise.

I started my daughter on semi-solids at around 6 months. Things like potatoes, chicken and sauce all blended up together, the cubans call it 'pude'. its a grown persons meal, blended into mush. And she loved it. Not so much salt or season though. Anything pretty much that you can blend would be fine.
