after buying one stock with a bunch of miles wouldn't it be a good idea to put in a new motor or just stay with the high mileage

If you are thinking of buying a 300 from the 84-89 era, You can do some fabricating and slap a 350 cid in it. As for the stock 3.0 ltr V-6 that engine has been to the salt flats and pulled out 228mph. So, how often do You plan on going 228mph? You can do all the tweaking you want to do to the stock engine, and it may even have an LSD from the factory. If you wanna dump enough cash into it, It can be your dream car, if you just want a toy, it'll still let you have some fun. Just don't get a 2+2.

Don't forget to check out http://www.z31.com for more info, on the 84-89 models.

Well I haven't really seen anyone swap in a bigger engine in a 300zx (engine bay is cramped enough already with the stock engine...which is a hell of an engine anyways).

Go to www.stillen.com for your first round of bolt ons...then check the various 300zx forums for highest rated tuners.

BTW...the 300zx with the stock motor can already make quite a lot of power...no need to try to shoehorn something else in there.

My son had to have a new engine put in his '91 300zx. The mechanic ordered it from Japan because they turn in their cars/engines at 40 or 50k. It was a lot cheaper than buying a rebuilt or new engine.

twin turbochargers, ECU chip, and dual exhausts...450 to 500 horses are easily attainable
