FBI agent candidates must have a bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of related full-time work experience. Experience in law, law enforcement or the military will help if you're interested in working for the law enforcement branch of the FBI. If you're interested in working for the FBI regarding matters related to financial crime or fraud, then experience in the financial field would be relevant.
Candidates must successfully complete a written and oral examination, medical and physical examinations, a psychological assessment, and an exhaustive background investigation. Also, candidates must be between 23 and 36 years of age at the time of appointment.
The FBI looks for candidates who have bachelor's or master's degrees in criminal justice-related areas, engineering/science, accounting/finance, or foreign languages. Currently the FBI is only accepting applications for candidates who have one or more of the following skills:
Fluent in a Foreign Language (Arabic, Farsi, Pashtu, Urdu, Chinese [all dialects], Japanese, Korean, Russian, Spanish, and Vietnamese)
Accounting/Finance experience (Accounting/Finance Degree/CPA/or at least 2 years relative work experience)
Engineering experience
Computer Science experience or other information technology specialties
Physical Science experience (such as physics, chemistry, biology, etc.)

Becoming an FBI Special Agent is a very competitive process. Below are some minimum requirements to become an FBI Special Agent.
You must be a U.S. citizen or a citizen of the Northern Mariana Islands. You must be at least 23 years of age, but younger than 37 upon your appointment as a Special Agent. Age waivers may be granted to preference eligible veterans who have surpassed their 37th birthday. You must possess a four-year degree from a college or university accredited by one of the regional or national institutional associations recognized by the United States Secretary of Education. You must have at least three years of professional work experience. You must also possess a valid driver's license and be completely available for assignment anywhere in the FBI's jurisdiction.
Any degrees that develop research and analytical skills are desirable educational backgrounds for FBI Special Agent candidates. If you don't have a college degree yet, consider choosing accounting, computer science, a foreign language that the FBI considers critical, or law as your college major. Whatever major you choose, make the most of your time and money. Choose a school that is properly accredited, get the highest grade point average that you can, participate in a couple extracurricular activities, get a good internship, and do some regular volunteer work. Consider getting an advanced degree. Getting law enforcement officer jobs is becoming more and more competitive. Do whatever you can to make yourself the best candidate that you can. For example, don't do anything illegal, maintain a good reputation, keep a good driving record, don't get bad credit, improve all of your communication skills as much as possible, and become as physically fit as you can. Becoming an FBI Special Agent is a great goal. However, many federal agencies have criminal investigators or special agents. Consider the FBI and other agencies too.

The last I knew, a degree in accounting or a law degree is part of the prerequisites to be considered for an appointment. Of course passing the FBI Academy in Quantico. VA is next.
The money isn't all that great to start with. Plus the chances of being bounced from field office to field office is very possible. Not really a great life if you're married and have kids.

you/they will need at least a 4yr. college degree. the fbi likes degrees in criminal justice, accounting or other law disciplines. once you have the 4 yr. degree, you will need to apply with the FBI. they have a website and a human resources division. you can also contact your local FBI field office for more info, although I am sure that the website will cover a lot of your questions

Law degrees are a very big plus. In today's world, I would think computer degrees would be very helpful as well.
