Flashing not necessary...I have been to Mardi Gras parades and just simply stood on the sidewalk, not yelling for beads or anything, not provocatively dressed, not really wanting the beads, and come home loaded down. I agree with the previous answer that it is mostly tourist who come down and flash. Mardi Gras has gotten so far away from its purpose. It has become just a big party for tourists to get drunk and act stupid!!!

I'm from Louisiana and have been to Mardi Gras almost every year...and never have flashed.

I've gotten more beads just from attending parades than flashing in the quarter.

No, i dont plan on it and probably never have or will flash, but i also wont rag on people that do. Mardi Gras is the biggest party of the year, do what you will!

Generally, it's pretty much the tourists in the quarter who do the flashing...it's all in good fun, though, so no harm done.
