Why?? If you have to ask questions like this here, it means that you don't know anywhere NEAR enough to be breeding.

Please spay your dog - there are thousands of perfectly healthy Chihuahuas killed every year as it is because there aren't enough homes. Please don't add to the problem.

Please reconsider before you attempt to breed! There are so many questions that you need to ask yourself before you go there!

First, is your dog AKC registered? If not, stop now and do not breed your dog. Even if it is registered through a different registry, it is probably not "good" breeding material.

Next, you must know the pedigree of your dog. If it does not have any champions in it, your pup is probably not worth breeding. Stop right there and do not breed your dog.

Third, check to verify if your dog falls within breed standard set by the AKC. Go to AKC.org and check out your breed. If your dog is in any way out of standard, do not breed it.

Then, if the dog does have champions in his line, and falls within standards, take your dog into the vet and have it tested for any genetic issues that may cause it to be unfit to breed. If your vet is qualified, have the dog temperament tested also. Temperament is one of the most important attributes in a dog. If it fails any of these tests, do not breed it.

Finally, make sure that you have at least $3000 saved incase you have any problems that may arise during the pregnancy or whelping. If you can’t afford that, stop and fix the dog!

Now for my lecture....Not all dogs should be breed. Breeding takes time, energy, and a lot of money. There are so many dogs in shelters or puppy mills now, that should never have been born or breed. I really do not think that you should breed this pup, since you haven’t seemed to have done any research! That is extremely irresponsible and reckless. Please, please do not breed this dog!

Why are you breeding your dog? Is she registered with AKC? Has she been to shows and deemed fit for breeding by matching the breed standard? Have you had her tested for hereditary defects that she might pass on to her pups? Are you willing to keep or take back any puppies that you can't find homes for or that are returned? Are you able to afford having the puppies vaccinated for their first and possibly second vaccines, examined by a vet and dewormed before they go to their new home? Are you able to afford an emergency c-section if your Chihuahua needs one (very common in this breed)? Please don't just jump into this casually, do your research and do it for the right reasons, otherwise spay your female and don't contribute to the horrible pet overpopulation problem.

too bad...I have a well behaved male black and tan chi and he is a doll baby....you might want to check with your local vet. The problem is when you mate your female you want to make sure the male has good genes otherwise the pups will be sickly or deformed or worst yet have bad immune systems. be careful and check out where the dog lives and the owners as well. Make several trips to the home and look at the place the dog sleeps as well....

Stop trying to be a BYB. Ther are enough people with Chi's out there breeding them when they have no clue already. If you have to look for a male on here, you have a PET QUALITY dog that should be SPAYED ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you don't know where to find a stud for your ***** (They're not called "Females" and "Boys" in the breeding world!), then you shouldn't be breeding.

There are 1000's of chihuauha's in rescues right now - Please don't add to the numbers and have your ***** spayed!
