The legal stuff will cost about £100 for the licence for both of you and the service at the regester office.
After that, it's what you want to spend etc.
A car is from about £100-£150 upwards (shop around or you'll get conned though)
Rings, you can get some ok heavy weight 9carat gold ones from Argos for about £30-£40 each.
Invitations cost if you buy them, or you can make them yourself, same with favours.
A suit for him, - depends on what he wants, you can get them cheap from places like Asda, about £50.
A dress, depends again on what you want, seriously you can get some bargains on ebay, - I got mine on ebay, i wore a long pink satin dress. Flowers you can arrange your posey yourself. Also you can buy dresses from BHS, debenhams etc, quitecheaply, say £80 upovers.
A meal, obviously it depends on how you do it, if you're just booking a couple of tables at a restaurant it's uauslly the cheapest option, alternatively you can hire somewhere for the meal. Again, shop around.
I did similar to what you're planning and did it all for less than £1000, inc stag and hen nights & the night in swanky hotel.

It REALLY depends on a number of different things. You can start by looking into where and when you'd like to have the wedding and figuring out how much it will be, or you can start by firguring out how much you can save and what you can do with that amount of money.
The first thing to do though, is to figure out what's important to the two of you. Is a fancy dress important? Is it important that you have a professional photographer? Is it so important that some people be there from out of town that you're willing to pay for part of their trip? Is a fancy, multi-course meal important? Is the location important? (A wedding in a hotel, on a boat, in a community hall, or in someone's home will vary drastically in cost.) Do you want to give everyone some sort of fancy favor for having attended? (You could easily spend between $0.50 and $20 per person on favors.) Do you want to purchase fancy engraved invitations and other stationery? (Even with a small number of guests, you could pay up to $30 per invitation, or have them done somewhere for about a dollar each.) Is an exotic honeymoon important?
Start by discussing these things, and seeing what each of you considers to be the priorities. If location isn't important to you, for instance, you can look around and find somewhere you're happy with but that is very cheap. If it's crucial that you do it in a hotel where everyone can spend the night, then that cost will be a big factor.
You could do what you describe (small wedding with a meal) for a couple of hundred bucks (including EVERYTHING), or you could spend $10,000 or more.
Congratulations, and good luck - and whatever you do, don't go into debt over it. It's not the way to start a marriage, and you're smart for realizing that.

If you two want a nice wedding, where you can invite family and a small reception afterward, you can do it for $2,000, give or take a few dollars. The smaller your budget, of course, the more closely you'll have to watch expenditures.
There are things you can do to cut expenses. Some people have a pot-luck wedding, where guests each bring a dish to contribute to the meal, or others have dessert weddings, where it takes place in the evening, and they serve cakes & cookies, maybe tea and coffee.
If you're creative enough, you can have every aspect of a full wedding & reception on a shoestring budget, but it would mean doing a lot of things yourself.
Good luck

my wedding cost 800.00 tops! i got married in a small chapel that held only 100 people so only close frfiends and family were invited. we had our reception at a friends house who had a big house and big patio with a pool so it was nice at night. i bought y wedding dress at a local prom store/formal outlet and took it to a tailor to adjust it for a more formal wedding look. there are dresses out there cheap and beautiful that you can add and redo a little. find a seamstress to help you. its cheaper. we found all our decorations on sale. we got married on valentines day so our colors were red and gold...nice after chrsitmas sales EVERYWHERE and we just adjusted those colors to go with valentines....my sister in law made the cake and family and friends made the rest of the food. it was so beautiful and perfect. you dont need a lot of money for a small initmate wedding. you will have to put elbow grease in yourself but its actually fun. you would do well if you are not going to have to worry about church, etc. the only REAL money is in the rings and photographer. (we were lucky enough to have a friend in the family who is a photographer and that was a wedding gift from him) be creative! the decor is out there for you to find, the dress is on a shelf somewhere in a prom/formal store and the food can be made by everyone........you dont have to pour thousands into a nice small intimate wedding. good luck!

It really matters where you live and how fancy a wedding you want to have. Obviously a multi course meal with open bar is going to be exponentially more expensive than a backyard tented buffet. Don't forget all the little things that add up quite quickly: hair and make-up, invitations, postage, fees for license, etc etc. I would say no less than 4 K just to be safe. If you want to save $$ consider having it on a Friday or Sunday, it's usually less expensive if you are renting a hall. Good luck!

Well save up what you can, and that will be your budget. Work within that budget. If say you only have $1000 dollars saved, then try and figure out what you can get for that amount. Alocate a percent that you want to spend. Like say 50% on the reception or what not. Just depends on what is most important to you to spend the money on.

There are several ways to cut costs - doing your own invitations, programs, favors, etc. Start pricing items you know you'll want - special/wedding dress, honeymoon destinations, rings, etc. My husband and I had a really nice church wedding for under $5,000 ($3,000 was just the rings and honeymoon). Make a list of everything you want and create a simple budget. It'll be a big help!!

When my husband and i got married we only went for a small ceremony, the total was around £3500 - £4000 for the ceremony, meal and reception (not the honeymoon as my father paid for that). The cost varies on where you have your meal, ours was in a four * hotel so was more expensive.
If you add a dress to that it goes up a bit depending on what you go for.
Have fun planning your wedding. xx

you can get married for a couple of hundred pounds if you really want to you don't have to have a big white dress you could have a nice suit from the market about 30quid asda have men's suits for 19quid true it was on gmtv today the actual service is about 50quid your rings can come from Argos cheap as chips and your flowers you can do yourself go to the mkt get loads different bunches for a fiver and a meal can cost about 100quid so if you want to get married that much its not going to cost a arm and leg good luck

the registry office should not cost you much, by tradition the future bride,s father should pay for the wedding, so get asking your fiance what kind of elaborate wedding she wants. i think its wise for you to save first anyway, and dont get tempted with loans, just be happy with each other until you,s have saved up enough for what you want, and good luck
