It was in the middle of the night, no one was on the road, and I got clocked going 82 in a 65. I am inclined to not pay this ticket, as long as it will not adversely affect my Maryland driving record. What could happen to me if I don't pay this?

I have been in that situation before....if you don't pay the fine, they will suspend your MD license. NY will send alot of notices to pay the ticket. The final notice will state that your license will be suspended in 30 days if the fine is not paid. That is a threat...they will suspend your license. NY had sent me plenty of warning, but I thought nothing of it because I was in a different state. Well, I got pulled over in MD and they told me that my license was suspended because of the NY ticket. To add, to get your license off of suspension is a real hassel on the phone with MVA representative and NY DMV representative. So, in other words...pay the ticket...trust me...you will get that load off your back.

The fact that it was in the middle of the night and there was no one else on the road doesn't have a single thing to do with the fact that you were speeding 82 MPH in a 65 MPH zone. I don't believe that the New York law is written to say that you can't speed "unless it's in the middle of the night and no one else is on the road." Traffic laws apply 24/7 regardless of traffic conditions. You chose to speed at that high rate of speed because you were counting on the cop saying just that - "Aw, there's no one else on the road, and it is the middle of the night, so I'll just give you a warning and let you go."

Dream on, skippy. You're damn lucky you didn't get arrested for "Reckless Driving," have your car towed and your butt hauled off to jail! (If you had gotten caught in Virgina, that's what would have happened.) Honestly, I'm surprised the NY cop didn't do just that.

If you don't pay the fine, the State of New York will suspend your driving priviledges in that state. If they have a Memorandum of Understanding with Maryland, the New York DMV will absolutely notify the Maryland DMV of your suspended status, at which point Maryland will suspend your license. Then you'll have not one but TWO states to pay the fees to get your license back in!

Oh, yeah, one more thing...last I heard, New York DOES have such an agreement with Maryland.

Pay the ticket and be done with it. You did the crime, now do the time.

Just to pile on to all the correct answers here, not only will your license be suspended, but you will probably be charged with a misdemeanor failure to appear in New York which you will have to go to New York to handle. That will significantly increase your costs, and the amount of the fine, and will be a criminal conviction on your record. Pay it or go to traffic school, but do NOT ignore it.

no longer something will take position till you bypass lower back to NZ. maximum in all probability they are going to deliver some more effective notices earlier issuing any arrest warrant (in the experience that they ever get to that factor) in case you bypass lower back then you definately might want to be arrested or suggested to a court docket listening to or denied driving in NZ; they could even save including previous due value costs depending of the infraction. Deportation? no longer for a site visitors value tag, till they haven't any further something more effective perfect to do like going after real criminals. Now in case you want to bypass lower back to NZ and be enable to force without drama to fret about, in basic terms call the court docket (or community NZ embassy) and mail or cord the money.

It will affect your DL and your insurance and New York will issue a warrant for your arrest for FTA. You will find all that out when you go to renew your DL.
