Hi Erica...I'm partially reiterating some of the other suggestions here, but elaborating on them. It sounds like your kitty has found a schedule of his own as most kittens are rambunctious and full of hyper energy as well as nocturnal. There are many possibilities as to why he may be keeping you up at night. For example many cats who are fed at a scheduled time will learn when to expect their meals, the family members come home and leave for day, etc. It's more of a conditioned response from a pattern which is being continually reinforced...and is why I'm making this assumption.

If you would like to change/adjust his schedule to yours consider by playing with him using more physical active activities (e.g. laser light) using interactive play for 10-15 minutes prior to bedtime to exhaust him so he'll sleep longer. If your cat isn't free fed (food available at all times) some people who feed their cats on schedule (once in the morning and once at night) have found that by feeding right just before bedtime also note that this has a sedating effect because their tummy's are full.

If he's continuously Hyper, I advise you're taking him to a vets, there could be a topic. If it lasts for under an hour, then he sleeps, then as quickly as he wakes up he's hyper returned - he's purely being a kitten. I actually have a cat or sixteen and he nonetheless have his mad moments. He runs in from the backyard, runs around the room and climbs up the wallpaper. He then starts crying because of the fact he won't be able to get down anymore.

Cats are nocturnal by nature. He is just a kitten. Is he neutered? That might calm him down. Otherwise, there is not much you can do. You can't put cats on a schedule like a baby. They are animals. Good Luck!

Cats are naturally nocturnal. They play at night because they sleep all day. One of the things you can do is to get your cat spayed/neutered. This will help in calming them down. Not completely, but some. Also, unless you plan to bred the cat, it is healthier for them too.

Well, like, you can, like, give him, like, medicine that we carry at Petco. It is called Pet Calm, it calms them down when they think they will be getting into stressful situations. (it is in a dark blue bottle with a dropper top) Many of our customers rely on this stuff on an every day basis and come in to buy 15 bottles at a time, just so they will have it. So I have heard good things.

one way is to get a laser pointer and shine it in front of the cat so it will chase it and then keep doing that and the cat will tire out.
