To keep the weight off you cant really start by losing it fast. The really boring but correct answer is to follow a healthy eating plan that will enable you to lose a few pounds every week and then have a way of eating that is for life.

If you're going to keep it off for good, you're not going to find a way to lose it fast that will allow you to do this. Low carb diets like the Atkins and South Beach diet will allow you to lose weight fast, but most people gain it right back when they stop the diet, because it doesn't teach you how to keep the weight off, and you don't learn much about proper nutrition. If you want to lose weight and keep it off, the only way to do it is through a proper, nutritious diet and with exercise. It takes a little while to see results, but you start to feel healthier immediately. Within about a week or two, you will start to notice a little weight loss. Keep it up, and you will be healthy in no time.

So, what is proper nutition? Look at a food pyramid (see the link below). You should get about 6 servings of grain (preferably whole wheat-type products), 4 servings of fruits and veggies (which are rich in antioxidants and chock full of vitamins), 3 servings of dairy (which has calcium an vitamin D for strong bones), and 2 servings of protein (meat, beans, fish, etc). Also, try cutting your portion sizes. Go by the serving sizes on boxes. A serving of meat is about the size of the palm of your hand, or a cassette tape. A serving of fruit is about the size of a baseball. Remember these proper serving sizes, especially when you go out to eat. Lots of restaurants serve meals that are double, even triple a typical serving. Remember, your stomach is smaller than your hand! Finally, stop eating when you're full. It sounds like common sense, but so many people kee eating even when their body is telling them it's full. Eat slowly and pay attention to when you feel satisfied. You should rarely if ever eat to the point where you are "stuffed." And pay attention to when you eat. Do you eat when you're bored? When you're sad? If so, find some other way to occupy yourself. Stock your kicthen with healthy foods so that when you do snack, you'll eat something nutritious. You won't eat junk food if you don't have any!

As for exercise, find something to do on a regular basis, several times a week. Regular exercise is important to any weight loss plan, and it improves your health overall in a variety of ways. Find something you enjoy doing, such as a sport, and do it often. It helps to find a workout buddy, someone who will join your weight loss efforts with you. They can give you support, motivation, and keep you going when you struggle. You also might want to consider joining a gym and going after or before work, or maybe taking a class.

Good luck, and I hope this helped. Whatever you do, don't fall for fad diets. They never work in the long run. Do it the healthy way.

Once you are at your goal weight then weigh and measure everything, also keep track of what you eat. You can eat anything, no matter what it is, but you must write it down. Keep drinking your water (8 glasses a day) Exercise, it does not have to be strenuous, it can be walking, swimming, aerobics, etc.
I go to weight watchers and I want to lose 42lbs to be at my goal weight which I am hoping to achieve this year.

I am also trying, and this is what I do.
Go to the gym, often, and do weights, and run, for about an hour

And don't eat after 8pm.
Very soon you'll lose all the weight, and it's fast, it's fast for me..
5kg in about 2 months

lets be honest , u cant its not possible without damaging ur health .I have tried every diet in the book , atkins , cabbage soup , south beach ....................etc .They do not work , maybe for a week possibly two , but its impossible to keep it off .U will put it on and more .The only way to lose weight healthily and keep it off is to do it slowly .Not only will it stay off ,but if u lose weight really quickly then u run the risk of excess skin (very attractive in a bikini) .Join weight watchers i did and lost over 3 stone in 6 months .

lap band. stomach stapling. lipo.

otherwise, exercise, drink plenty of water and if you're trying to fit into a particular dress quickly - do a 3-day no carb diet (lotsa water and plenty of cardio). but only 3 days. completely eliminating a food category isn't very healty.

if you drink soda...stop drinking it cold turkey for 30 days...then only allow yourself 1 soda per day..all the sodas you used to drink...drink 100% real fruit juices or water instead....i saw it on oprah yesterday. dont eat pasta/noodles for a month...then allow yourself to eat it once a month. no white bread, try wheat...its actually yummy! try to stay active...like cleaning the house all at once...no sit down breaks...for at least a half hour. should work...give yourself 2-3 months to notice a change. oh and before you start...weigh yourself and dont do it again until month 2 is over.
