I bought a Panasonic 42" plasma HDTV TH-42PX60U from Sears and I'm very happy with it.

I bought Panasonic because of brand name and reliability. I bought this model (TH-42PX60U) because of good reviews. I bought plasma because it does not have the video lag like LCD units have. I chose this size - 42" due to size of room and distance from sofa to TV. And the biggest reason is - I was able to get this unit for less than $1000!

Hi there!

My husband and I bought a flat panel 46" Sony Wega (LCD, HDTV) and it's great! It has wonderful picture quality and is actually pretty light---my husband and I moved it into the house ourselves with no problem. Any type of product from Sony is very well made and comes with a good warranty. Hope this helps and happy shopping!! :)

the BEST picture for HDTV is NOT the one that you think..
IT is STILL the old fashioned CRT (cathode ray tube) technology.

The Plasma wears out, uses huge power, and not as good.

The LCD refreshes too slowly for movement, is not that bright.

And the other options are rear projection types with brightness issues.

However, CRT maxes out at 36inches max these days!

So, if you MUST have big screen tech, and cannot wait for the new flat screen CRT type TVs due in a few years (that blow plasma and LCD out of the water!), LCD is the way to go.

Now, if you CAN ensure a dark room they you can go with a large projection TV (rear or front) as you can get the very best bang for your buck.

But if you really want that thinness, want to pay for it, and need it BIG.. then LCD is the way to go. Lower power use, great picture.

You DO need to focus on models, they change so fast.

REally tho, best to get a reduced depth CRT widescreen now, wait a few years and get
