No! Some clerics in the Islamic faith have twisted the doctrine of Islam to appear that it does to their followers but it does not. The same was true in Japan in WWII but their faith in reality does not either.

The base belief is that were a man to die in the service of God, he would be honored as such.

Misguided men have twisted that belief for their own purposes. God, nor the prophets of God have ever advocated such actions.

I'm sure Islam is not the only one, but it is the main one these days.

oh and about Japan in WW2 - that's different. That was a war, with military targets. At least military was the main target.
