Sure keeping it cold helps, read a long answer to your question about the expiration date on medicines. It come down to expiration date don't mean much the medicine might lose a tiny bit of potency but it's really good for years.

well expiration of a drug depends on a LOT of factors. If the actual drug is kept in its original manufacturer's bottle (where its in a controlled, set environment) usually the expiration date on it can be more than 2 years+...but once a pharmacist dispenses to you, that control environment factor is gone so we have to account for change constant change of humidity, temperature and light..so we gurantee it for atleast a year or the manufacturer's date ..which ever is less (different states can make this more stricter)..

Now going back to your question, if after a year has been passed and now your going into 7 months...the drug has probably lost some of its potency so it may not give u a full effect.

As for that study done by the military where they found that most expired meds are fine after they expired...that probably WON'T work in the real world...there are just too many variables when a patient takes the medicine home whereas the military had a set area where the medicine was located..BIG difference
