wet a tea bag and place it in your mouth where your teeth where pulled. The tannin in the tea will stop the bleeding. tastes funny but it works.

Your dentist should have given you instructions explaining what to expect after the procedure. You should look at that for all your questions, or call the office and ask them if you're unclear. It's hard to say how long, with no idea which tooth, how complicated it's removal was, or how many were removed. Keep biting on the moistened gauze they gave you change it out once or twice at 15-20 min intervals. You may be dislodging the clot if you continue packing and disturbing it too many times. Keep an ice pack on the extraction site, cheek area, 5 min's or so, then off for 5-10 min's. Don't frost bite your face. Don't spit or rinse your mouth, smoke or drink anything hot or anything through a straw. If the area doesn't clot over, or continues to bleed for more than a couple of hours, call your dentist. A lot of what patients think is too much blood really is just a little mixed with a lot of saliva. You can also moisten a tea bag with cool water and place it over the socket and gently apply biting pressure for 10-15 min. There is tennic acid in tea bags naturally, which aid in formation of clotting. If any of this is unclear or you feel uncomfortable or unsure, please call your dentist. That's what they are there for. Hope I've been of some help, but do call your doctor if symptoms persist or worsen, even if it's after hours. Good luck.

Oh, honey, it's too soon to ask when they'll "finally" stop.

Actually, after another hour or so, you can probably remove the gauze okay and can eat. Make sure you have a towel laid out on your pillow if you lie down, and you aren't sleeping in your favorite jammies, because blood can (and probably will) ooze off and on for another day or so, especially when you're sleeping.

Two hours at the most, as long as you keep biting the gauze for about one hour after the tooth has been pulled out.
