Bank teller had a huge boil on her forehead. Could it have been a staph infection?

It is possable my mother had one on the tip of her nose (of all places). And it looked like a very large boil. Be sure to was your hands because certain types of staph can be catching.

Yes it is possible but hard to say. The skin normally has its resident normal bacerial flora and it could be any one of them including staph. The only way to really be sure is to get pus from the boil and have a laboratory culture the pus.
