Copy to word pad First.
The System may be trying to do a Link ( or a paste special ) to the Email. You can over-ride this, if that is correct, by copy, then paste special back in, and qualify it as text only

You are probably picking up an formatting character from the e-mail program that Word can not recognize. What you do is paste it into Notepad first. That will strip all the formatting. Then copy it form there to Word.

your word program stop responding because it tryes to connect to the internet and download the web page that has he text on it and get it from there .
you should select the text you want to copy from the email , start a "notepad" and paste it there.
after that select the text from the notpad , copy it into the clipboard and after that paste it into word.
