My favorite site is www.CookingLight.com.

However, I need a book, as opposed to a card or piece of paper, to cook from.

It obviously depends on what sort of cooking you want to do, but I'd recommend that every serious (olr not so serious, really) cook owns a copy of the Gastronomy published by Larousse. It's a cross between a recipe book and an encyclopaedia and if you only owned on recipe book then this would be the one I'd suggest! It's amazingly comprehensive, unsurprisingly focusing on French cookery, and absolutely enormous. It's almost always my first port of call when I want to find a recipe for almost anything. Larousse also publish a volume dedicated to simpler and more basic dishes which goes by the name of "Practique", if memoyr serves me correctly, and it's also well worth having. There are lots of particular areas in which it's probably worth having a dedicated book -- like baking, for example, or Thai cookery. However, it would take an awfully long time to list favourites in every area so I'll stick with the one recommendation.

I like www.recipezaar.com for both variety and quantity, there are thousands of recipes there, you can get your own box and it's nice community because a lot of the recipes come from other subscribers.
