many a time i get "congratulations!, you are the n'th winner".. what is the plot behind this?

SPAM!!!!
they want to make you think that, so they can spam you and make you jump through holes that earn them money from advertisers (about twice what they claim to give you).
then (sometimes) they'll give you what they promised.
overall: NOT WORTH IT
but don't take my word for it, try it yourself. pick one, and do it. note: use a fake email adress that you made just for this, they WILL spam it!

Spam - or worse. They might even be trying to lure you to a site that will infect your machine with spyware. This opens up the possibility of identity theft, your financial information being stolen, and so on.
The best advice for those pop-ups is to ignore 'em and close 'em.

SPAM. They are trying to get you to go to their website because they get paid a penny for evey person who goes there by their advertisers.

THIS IS DEFINATELY SPAM!!! Don't even bother looking at it!! All they want is to pull you into some GET RICH QUICK SCHEME!!! Sorry guys, if it SOUNDS too good to be true; it probably is!!!
