There is some fat in peaunt butter, but there is also a lot of protein and it makes you feel full. If you stick to putting on just a little peanut butter on the bread (and no butter) and some jelly, it isn't the worst thing in the world for you to eat, and it seems to keep you full for several hours. I think if you ate like 3 or 4 sandwichs a day, that is probably too many.

It depends on what kind of peanut butter and jelly you use. Most kinds of jelly have a lot of sugar in them. Peanut butter is good for you because most of the fat is good fat and is has a lot of protein. But watch out, lots of peanut butters have sugar and stuff in them to make them taste sweet. If you want to be healthy you should try natural or unsweetened peanut butter. But I don't know what you should use for jelly...
I do know that peanut butter and banana sandwiches are good!

I hope not.. I have one every day
I love those things! With a glass of milk! MMmmmm!!!

Let's consider a traditional PB and J made with two slices of white bread, two tablespoons of peanut butter, and two tablespoons of grape jelly. By reading label information from popular brands of each ingredient, you can figure out the following:

Total Fat: 18 grams
Saturated Fat: 3.5 grams
Sodium: 490 mg
Carbohydrates: 58 grams
Protein: 12 grams
Total Calories: 403

Peanut butter, like most foods, contains some fat. Fortunately, 80% of the fat in peanut butter is unsaturated fat — "the good fat" — which may actually help lower LDL-cholesterol levels in your blood. In fact, because peanut butter is so versatile, good tasting and nutritious, it is included in many medically endorsed weight loss and diabetic diets.

Yes, but all things in moderation. Have you tried all natural peanut butter and sugar free jelly on a whole grain bread--it's good, real good!

any meal that contains a high amount of fats and sugars is fattening. the body can only metabolize one source of energy at a time.

everybody that responded that peanut butter is fattening needs to do some research on the benefits and sources of omega 6 fatty acids because you have no clue about what you are talking about...

not really. you burn the sugar from the jelly. the peanuts butter is of considerable nutricious value, and in comparison with many other foods with the same calories it doesn't have many bad fats. the bread is the most fattening part for all practical purposes

jelly has a lot of sugar in it naturally, peanut butter contains many additives that can be fatty. I think if they are eaten in moderation like one sandwitch at lunchtime, it may be okay.
