Just a thought that came to mind. What do you think would happen to criminals in jail that would have suffered the death penalty for their crimes?

I believe Jesus would give Grace to those that would have been on death row. Because God wills none to perish but all to come to repentance through faith in Christ. The oportunity of slavation would be clearly presented to those on death row.

The last enemy to put under our feet is death. Oh death where is your sting? Death & hell is thrown into the lake of fire.

This question is about today (age of Grace) not the wrath of God or the return of Christ for the Millinnium.

Jesus Christ will reign on the earth for one thousand years. The demons are locked away and the people will live for many years as a child that dies at one-hundred will be considered to be cursed. During this time I doubt there will be a need for a death penalty. I'm sure if there are jails they will not be quite so full and if John 8 is correct Jesus was not pro death penalty.

it is an spectacular question. Like maximum matters, you will discover Biblical help for the two element in case you seem stressful sufficient. Shakespeare as quickly as wrote, “the devil can cite Scripture for his objective.” That stated, it is genuine that there are various Bible passages (fantastically interior the OT) that help capital punishment, often for rather easy offenses: - Adultery (Leviticus 20:10) - Blasphemy (Leviticus 24:sixteen) - Breaking the Sabbath (Exodus 31:14 & 15) - Disobedient infants (Exodus 21:15 & 17; Leviticus 20:9) - Homosexuality (Leviticus 20:13) - not being a virgin on your wedding ceremony night (yet on condition which you're a female - Deuteronomy 22:20-21) some human beings cite Romans 13:a million-7, which states that anyone governments are sanctioned by using God, and if the government dictates something (like capital punishment), then it is God’s will. How do cutting-edge Christians reconcile this with governments like Hitler’s Germany, or Stalin’s Russia, or Pol Pot’s Cambodia, or any of the 1000's of others that have been in charge for terrible atrocities in the process history? Governments are run by using human beings, who're – inherently – imperfect. it is why the U.S. has a device of exams and balances, and why our rules are continuously changing (submit to in ideas, there exchange right into a time whilst slavery exchange into legal, whilst women couldn’t vote, whilst there have been no new child hard artwork rules, and so on.). This argument purely would not fly. There are additionally many passages (esp. interior the hot testomony) that are ANTI-dying penalty. as an occasion, Matthew 5:38-39 insists that violence shall not beget violence. James 4:12 says that God is the only one that could take a life interior the call of justice. Leviticus 19:18 warns against vengeance (which, fairly, is what the dying penalty quantities to). In John 8:7, Jesus himself says, "permit he who's without sin solid the 1st stone." there are various, many useful problems with capital punishment (that I won't get into right here), yet purely from a ethical viewpoint, i won't be able to think of that Jesus could help it. genuine Christians shouldn't, the two.

Ah.... lets review here... God sends son to earth only to eventually receive the death penalty for some trumped up charges. My guess is if Christ was involved with governemnt, those who get death penalty wouldn't be sucking tax payer dollars for 10 or 20 years. Thirty days after sentence... maximum. Christ had less than 24 hours. If they were wrongfully accused as Christ was, then they just receive the gift of heaven a bit early. Whats so wrong about that? More than likely the death penalty would be here still.

First off, the bible says in revalations that there will be things that will happen to our government. Just because God is God doesn't mean that he HAS to make the death penalty go away. Sometimes there are things that stay the same for different reasons. And the thing that people know and days do is try to find the answers to everything! If God wanted you to know exactly why he does the things and have done the things he's done, there would be no need for the bible!!!!!

Secondly, If that person that was in jail confessed their life to God before their sentencing, then they will be in heaven with God. The bible says that once you confess and repent your sins and believe in your heart htat jesus is the son of God, then you are saved!!

Jesus is ruling in heaven. Not on earth. He is preparing for the great day of Armegeddon. He is manipulating satan and his followers for war. This war will bring an end to wickedness on the earth. Then people who survive this war will help in cleaning up the affects of this destruction. They will have the honor of restoring the earth to the paradisaic conditions that God created in the first place. Then there will be no more sickness, pain or death. Psalm 37: 9 10, 11, 29. Rev 21:1-5, Matthew 5:5. Psalms 104:5.

Oh, yes their would be. It says in Revelation that he is coming on a white horse and the blood will flow up to the horses bridle.
He is going to tread down the wicked as if in a wine press.
The bible all over the place gives a death sentence for certain crimes. From murder to adultery.
Joshua found out Achan had stole this official garment and some money. Joshua 7:20 - 24 They killed him and his sons and daughters. I am sure his wife was included in that.
Pelted them with stones. So it wasn't an easy death.
When he told the people to do something they better do it.
Psalms 37:9,10,11 says that the wicked will be destroyed. How is he going to do that? they will be killed.
The bible has never been against the death penalty for sin.
God says you will die for your sins.
Like it says life is a privilege not a right and wicked people will be removed.

Actually, the death penalty was administered for many different types of crime in the OT dispensation of the Law. Jesus Christ didn't come to SUPERSEDE the law; He merely came to AMEND it. Even at that, it doesn't mean that He intended to ABOLISH the death penalty, only abolish certain things the death penalty was instituted to be used against.

WHAT?? Jesus Christ...no death penalty?? Capital punishment is all over the Bible, chicky. The people who suffered for their crimes were separated from God forever, because of their choices. This is justifiable to God but Jesus Christ is not willing that any should perish but that all would come to repentance. So he is just and has to judge those who don't repent but doesn't want that of course. You sound very confused about whatever it is that you believe.

It's interesting that you said "suffered" the death penalty.
Dont you think its far worse to suffer for the rest of your life(which in most cases could be 20-40 years) behind bars in a living hell, than to just simply cease to exit where there's no suffering at all.

What I think they should do away with is the "life in prison" sentence. That seems to me to be the most cruel and inhumaine punishment there is.

Not only would there be less suffering. There would be less prisons and more taxpayer money that could be used for things much more CONSTRUCTIVE.
