The NHS, for all it's faults and bad public press is actually not as bad as may be viewed. The haematology standard for CLL will have been decided and the NICE will have guidelines on which drugs can be used.
The first line treatment here will be similar to most countries in the world, but countries with private health care schemes and hence more research funds may have new trials and treatments for CLL, which are yet to be licenced in the UK.
Clearly the USA, the fore runner to medical advances will be the one to be looked at, but be aware that if it is not the industry standard, then costs will be very high, and unless you have a superb health insurance policy, you may be left unable to access the drug you need.
Speak to your doctor in the NHS. He will be aware of the research by his global colleagues, and if there are treatments that may be of benefit to you, but which the NHS can not fund, he will tell you about them, as his intention is the best result for you, whether that happens in the UK or the USA. He also knows your condition in the most detail, and can advise on if these newer techniques would not be viable in your, or the person you enquire on behalf of's, condition.
I wish you the best of luck.

USA. I have a very similar condition..I spent months at M.D. Anderson in Houston, Texas. I agree with a lot of people that it is an excellent and well respected facility. Also Memorial Sloan-Kettering in New York is supposed to be even better. My family and I visited NY last month to check it out..I may do inpatient care there.
I guess you could say I am from a "privileged" family..and I have taken drugs that cost over 10 grand a month..there is no miracle cure and they were slightly, if at all, effective. Good luck and God bless.

The most comprehensive treatments (not necessarily more advanced) are available in the US and Japan. The US in particular has a number of specialized cancer treatment centers. On the down side, if you don't have a very generous insurance plan it will be very expensive for you. There is no effective single-drug treatment for CLL (not yet, anyway); it's treated with multi-drug protocols over time, usually with many outpatient visits.

I really don't know but I am now living in the US and I don't feel their medical people are any better. I have experience of the cancer treatments in the UK and ,although in my families case they didn't work, I don't think you could get any better. I hope everything works out for you. x

I can't help but think that the US would have more options, since medicine here is such a competitive business...

America has some of the best cancer specialists and believe it or not Egypt. Egypt apparently has some of the best trained doctors in the world, I'm just not so sure of its resources!
