While being a natural born citizen automatically gives a person the right to vote when they turn 18. Legal aliens need to apply for the citizen after living in the country for x amount of year. One part of the application process is that the need to answer question about the Government. Therefore when the vote they will know about the different branches of government. What party represents what. About the cabinet members of the president and how they got position. Even legal aliens are not granted automatic citizenship. So not only do you want to allow them to stay here being a law breaker but to bypass the requirement of becaming a citizen.
Start cutting the welfare budget so they need to start working but no citizenship for illegal aliens.

Mags - How awful for the $6.50/hour worker. Perhaps they should head to Mexico where things will be better for them. And they aren't worried about paying medical bills, sweetie! They use the Emergency Room and then pass the cost on to American citizens who wind up paying $500 for 3 stitches as opposed to what it cost BEFORE illegals were flooding in (around $125).

BTW - Many, many, many Americans (including millionaires) DID start in jobs that paid $6.50/hour or less. The scraped dead cats off the highway, scrubbed toilets, emptied bed pans, and mopped up vomit.

They worked their way up and out of that to get to a place where they're finally comfortable so that now they can...what? Give half of what they earn to people who are getting started the same way but now want more. AND who are here illegally. I don't think so.

The problem is that the illegals we are getting from Mexico are not people with skills we necessarily need, they have not gone through medical screens so they're bringing in illnesses, they are taking jobs (and yes, Americans WILL take those jobs - what do you think we did before illegals came in???) and they're not learning the language. They're increasing crime, hurting the healthcare system and destroying our educational system.

Add to that a blatent disrespect for Americans and you've got a real pain in the neck.

We need to get our own house in order and empower welfare recipients (and drug test them - if they're using drugs their welfare is cut off) and screen them more carefully to make sure they NEED welfare and aren't just free-loading.

You're talking about two different problems. Trading one for another is no solution.

there is no perfect plan for illegal immigrants. these people do the dirtiest jobs available for the least amount of money. they don't have money and somebody said that we should tax them more because they are illegal?! The group of people that should get taxed the most should be the milliners and not the people who just want a better life for their children, because they certainly don't get to have the better side of the deal. they also don't have health insurance because they ARE illegally here which means that they are taking huge risks. If after reading this you are still strongly against illegal immigration then put yourself in their shoes and think again. would you like to get payed the $6.50/hour for cleaning and scrubbing toilets? Would you like to know that you have to watch every dollar that you spent because your job doesn't pay for that? Would you like to know that you don't have insurance and your child is sick and needs immediate medical assistance and if they finally get to go to the hospital you will be left with the bills that you are unable to pay?

This "plan" is stupid. How about deporting the criminals that enter my country illegally. Have them go to the back of the line, participate in the process to become loyal to our laws, including the one about having permission to be in my country. How about this. Do away with food stamps and welfare all together, and deport the illegals regardless of which nationality they are. If they are here illigally, they need to be found and sent back to their own country.

This is a country of immigrants. Legal or illegal once they are here take them into your fold and tax them heavily if they are illegal. Once they realize that the illegal immigration is solved.
