It could happen if he does not become part owner. DEI was created for Kerry, Kelly and Dale Jr as part of their heritage.
Teresa has total control of DEI.
If Dale Jr had to pay for the rights to his name last year..
Teresa needs Dale Jr. more than Dale Jr needs here.

Dale Sr built DEI for his family, if Teressa has forgotten she needs to look on top of the drivers side hood of the #8 and see what name is up there. Jr was a EARNHARDT long before she ever came around! If Jr does not get the rights to the company he is requesting, he needs to leave and let her run the company to the ground. Sr is rolling over in the grave as to the way Teressa is handling things now. Ran Mikey off, now Jr. As for Jr driving the #3, Why not! It seems some people need some reminding as to who the man that made you's name was. Dale Jr should and probably will drive the the #3 car. Good for him. It's something Sr probably dreamed one day would happen. If sooner than later the Nascar world better look out. There is something about a BLACK #3 with the name Earnhardt and a RCR sticker that bleeds intimidation! This is coming from a die hard Ford man. GO JR.!!

If Jr leaves DEI I don't want for him to go to RCR and drive the #3. Jr is building his own legacy and he is better off keeping his own number and paint scheme. I believe that they need to retire Dale Sr's number.
So many people dislike Jr because his father was Dale Sr and if he drives the #3, then this will give them more reason to dislike him.
If he leaves, he needs to go to a team like Joe Gibbs Racing or possibly Rick Hendrick Motorsports. If he does go to RCR then he needs to drive the #8...not the #3!

He's not good enough to drive the #3. The whole RCR thing is speculation and wishfull thinking on his fans part, I've never heard of a legitimate offer being put on the table by RCR to Dale Jr. Nor have I read any interview where Childress has said so. Besides I dont think RCR would put up with his crap.

i DON'T THINK ANYBODY SHOULD DRIVE THE #3 CAR. The #3 should be retired, period. DEI should buy th e number when it is available and honor
Dale Sr. and not drive a #3. Dale Jr. should go wherever he can be happy if he and selfish theresa can't work out a fair partnership. I think it would be bad luck, karma or whatever you want to call it , for Dale Jr. to drive the #3.

Yes I think Jr should leave Dei becuase him and his step mother seem to be having so many problems.
But I don't think he should drive the # 3 let that retire in honor of Dale sr.
Sense jr owns the number 8 he probally would drive that # even if he left dei

His step mom would be dumb to let him go and not give him what he wants... How about he drives the number 83 goodrench/bud chevy... Now everyone is happy, the people who want him to keep his number, and the people who do not thing the number 3 should ever be ran again.
Honestly I think if Jr does leave he would have more success... He would be driving with Harvick, Burton, and himself! That would have to create more confidence in the guy...
I wonder who would try to pick him up... I keep hearing RCR, but thats only from you all... What if Mikey picked him up! lol or how about my boys at Hendrick... oh boy! All you Jr fans would have a fit then!!!

No, I think that would be wrong. #3 should always be associated with Dale Earnhardt - and Dale Jr. should always be #8.
Besides...switching teams like that isn't exactly as easy as you make it sound. I imagine Dale Jr. will leave DEI after his contract expires, and if the opportunity was there, he may even end up with RCR.......But I don't think he would even consider driving #3.

I think sometime he should drive the #3, but maybe just in the Daytona 500 as a tribute to his dad and his dad's legacy. As far as driving the #3 for a team through a season, I don't think anyone should ever drive a #3 car, but Nascar doesn't retire numbers, so maybe somewhere in the future we might see the #3 out on a track somewhere.
As far as him leaving DEI, if him and his stepmom can work out their relationship, he should stay. A Nascar announcer said right on TV that she only goes to like 8 to 10 races a season and really doesn't know what's going on. If they can see her problem, maybe she can learn and move on. I think she is afraid of losing DEI to the Earnhardt children. Might even see them in court over it within the next 5 years who knows.

Dale Jr needs to make a name for himself. I think if he gets into the #3 car, he'll never build his own legacy.
Let's face it, he's popular because of his first & last name. HE needs to stay in a car other than the #3 and win some races if he wants to be his own man. He's a fair driver and has won a few races, but he needs to be his own man.
