Nothing, just lay off. I think if you live your life in a moral and loving way and set an example for them is all you can do. If you practice a religion yourself, I can't understand why your children wouldn't be involved from day one and accept your basic beliefs as their own. Usually when adolescence arrives is the time when kids start doubting or questioning which is natural and to be accepted. I find it hard to think that they have no beliefs.

First off why are you trying to get them to believe in God? For you or for them. Unfortunately our religious example in our society today does not leave a positive example that makes anyone want to beleive. Allowing your own life to be an example for your believes will have a greater effect on them then any plan to force a Church to make to try and make them believe.
As for the fairy tail creatures you are trying to get them to believe in, it sounds like your kids are smart enough to see they are bogus. And your trying to get them to believe in God as well as them is in their minds putting them all in the same pot. Scratch the fairy tails and concentrate on living right in front of them so they will have the example to judge by for themselves.

Perhaps try taking a different approach, don't focus so much on Religion or Rituals but start to introduce them to Spirtualism of many flavors just for Research or to spark thought....
maybe the book Tao of Pooh
http://www.just-pooh.com/tao.html
or Something like Thich Nhat Hanh "Living Buddah, Living Christ.
Try Meditation tapes or anything that sparks them to look within, or in Nature. God is Everywhere & in Everything, as he created ALL Things. While your children appear very Scientific (hard proof) maybe they just need to research more to what they click with. You might even ask them what they do believe in and see if that can't lead you on a journey as a family....while it may be hard not to judge or sway to your own beliefs...God Speaks to us all different....read this article and maybe it will explain & share it with them.

salvation begins at home.you must be the first person to be saved.with your actions and changed life(if anyone in Christ,he is a new creation.old things passed away behold new things has come) then your children will follow.you have to live what you teach which means practice what you teach to your children.Train a child in the way he should go,and when he is old he will not turn from it..(Proverb 22:6) the righteous man leads a blameless life;blessed are his children after him...God bless!

Please let me know when you find out. I am Christian, but I was raised in a family that, although Christian, didn't value going to church. I started going to church as soon as I went to college, but my sisters are both agnostic. One is looking for tangible proof of God, but likes the stories of religion; and the other doesn't like religion as an establishment, but seems to believe in God.

You can't FORCE your beliefs on anyone, even your own children. All you can do is teacyh them morals, and how to be decent people.
But what you can do is teach them tolerance.
Tell them that just because they don't believe it does not give them the right to cut down those who do.
But let them discover their own paths. God let humanity go, and you have to let your children go.

The best solution to this problem is to coerce them into believing in a god through tactics of fear and shame.

To get them to believe in god, you need to tell them all about hell, and get them good and scared to go there unless they believe. Make sure that whatever church they're going to tells some good scary hell stories - you know, with eternal burning and a mean devil and stuff like that. That oughta do it.

The beginning of your children seeking God is, what are they seeing out of you. If your sending them to church and stayijng home that is not a very good example. Maybe they don't believe because they see little faith operating in the home.

Kids are alot smarter these days, and getting wiser everyday. Those days of "make believe" are almost extinct. With technology and science, it's very hard to pretend and go by faith alone.
