Don't waste your money on junk that everyone eventually throws out. Put that money in a savings account for you next vacation.

Of all the weddings I have been to, I have noticed a growing trend toward NOT having wedding favors. Most people just take them and toss them, regardless of what's in them. If your guests don't take all of them home, you're stuck with whatever is left over. They're not really necessary and no one seems to miss them. I suggest not bothering. You can always put a dish of whatever you were going to fill the favors with on each table. People always appreciate a little snack on the tables. As for a thank you for each guest, that's why you send out thank you notes after the wedding: you're thanking them for the gift and for making your wedding day all the more special by their sharing it with you. Personalized items don't do anything but cause clutter in someone else's house. I'd just skip the expense and spend the money on another aspect of the wedding, reception, or honeymoon. You could always put that money in the bank and start saving for your first home.

My hubby and I did the c.d thing and we got a great response. We did one cd for every family or couple coming to the reception, we had the front of our c.d covers decorated with scaned pictures of us and then their name and table number
Mr & Mrs John Smith
Table # 15
We did songs that were special to us, and included the song I walked down the aisle to, songs sang in our wedding, and the resessional song, we had a "contemporary wedding, so the songs were upbeat and worshipped Christ as our wedding was centered on Him, but we also included songs like...."she thinks my tractors sexy" I married a hot 20 year old farmer...hahaha! We had all the songs listed inside the c.d. cover, it folded out like a normal c.d insert and under each song it told a little story...like for example...we used a song called "Hands and Feet" by Audio Adrenaline, and told the story of how we had our first kiss overseas while doing a mission's trip, on the Caribbean Sea on Valentines day..how perfect is that first kiss....???
Everyone loved the look inside and people still come up to use 1 1/2 later and ask questions about the songs or stories we told...We bought the c.d's by bulk on ebay and the covers at staples and then printed of the inserts at home...good luck

In the grand scheme of things, favors are probably the least important of them all. Brides seem to worry and obsess over the favors, probably because there are just so many choices. Make it a simple thing you can have your bridesmaids make or purchase them already done. Unfortunately, if it's not edible, people toss them in a junk drawer or toss them out altogether. Honestly, of all the weddings i have gone to, the only ones I really remember are the personalized chocolate bars and mini bottles of champagne. I'm sure there were tons of Jordan almonds, matchbooks, and Cd's, but I just can't recall any of them specifically.

Wedding favors are VERY nice! You might try to buy something that will last, like a decorative wooden box and fill it full of really nice chocolate covered almonds.... or something of the sort. Be sure it is wrapped in pretty paper and looks beautiful..... ribbons, little flowers and all...
I just looked at www.marthastewart.com and I suggest you have a look.... she has great suggestions...and sources for things too...I looked a couple of other places, but this is the only one with really nice ideas...
Cheers!

Wedding favors are a nice touch, and a good way to say "thank you" to your guests.
Consider playing off the theme of your wedding. If you want to keep it simple, you can always go to a local candy store and get a truckload of M&Ms or jellybeans in your wedding colors, and then make little decoratively-wrapped sacks of the candy for each guest.
If you have an ocean theme, use a fancy pen to write each guest's name on a seashell; if you have a flower theme, give a tiny packet of seeds to each guest; if you're getting married in Vegas, give each guest a pair of dice or fake playing chips; etc.

I think if your having a traditional wedding they are a must have, besides your quests will love to have a keep sake from your special day!! For my wedding we made candles. Very affordable! Went to the Dollar store and bought tumbler glasses(always talk to the store manager, if your buying large quantity they'll usually give you a deal) went to a craft store and got the gel candle mix and some confetti, got my wedding party together with a couple bottles of wine, and VOILA!!! Party favours! They turned out great!!!

Wedding favours are supposed to be a little token so folks can remember the occasion. If you are handing out programs, then this detail is already taken care of.
If you still feel you need to have a little individual something for everyone at the reception, then go with something edible that's attractively packaged. When I got married, I went to a local chocolatier and bought chocolate nut clusters, then wrapped them in tulle and tied them with ribbons. Most folks aren't going to save those in a drawer for years, and most folks aren't going to save the packaging once they've eaten the contents, so I was sparing them a piece of clutter.

They are supposed to be a small way for them to remember your wedding. Though they aren't mandatory, if you don't have any there, people will complain. In general, people look for ways to nitpick about how the wedding should've been done. We went and did wine stoppers that had a heart on top. We decorated each one by hand with pretty pink and white wrap (took us forever!) and everyone loved them. In the end, we found out that some people went from table to table and stole extra!

Practically every wedding favor that I have ever gotten has been thrown out. We have had everything from cookie cutters to candles to Christmas tree balls. Do something that means something to you, it will be more significant. We happen to be giving donations to two charities that are very important to us, all of our guests will receive a card saying that in lieu of favors we have made donations to the American Diabetes Association and the Scleraderma Foundation. So far people have loved the idea.

As someone else has already mentioned, wedding favors are a token of gratitude to thank your guests for spending your special day with them, but they are not necessary. If it is in your budget and there is something you would like to give them, by all means do so. We made custom wedding cds for our wedding and our guests loved them. Many of them still play them to this day.
