I was 20 when I had my tonsils and adenoids taken out. I took by pills the whole time. My ENT told me to eat as much as possible. It's harder for older people to have this done because their bodies don't heal as quickly, but you just have to. It was painful, but that day I started eating soft things like bread and ice cream and yogurt (no fried chicken because of the crispy skin or pizza or anything like that) and I healed pretty quickly. Best of luck!!!!! After you get past the first 2 or 3 days, you'll be glad you got it done. I used to get strep every other month before I had it done. I haven't had a sore throat (except for once with a minor cold) since (almost 6 years ago) and I get sick less and have more energy. I'll pray for you!!!!

First of all, I'm no doctor, and the first thing you should do is ask your doctor, he's the one that studied medicine not me. A Tonsillectomy is a very minor surgery, you should have no problems or side effects, in fact you'd go home a few hours after the surgery. Therefore in my opinion you should have no problems, but again, ask your doctor.

No, you don't have to. I had a tonsillectomy when I was 20 and on the pill. I was able to get the pill down the night of the surgery.
Not gonna hurt you to miss a couple of days if you don't think that you can take it. Besides the pain killers they give you are horse pills! Taking your birth control will be nothing compared to the pain killers.

I wouldn't, but you should ask your DR to be on the safe side. Good luck with your surgery.

Don't you think that asking your Dr. this question would be more appropriate?
