I have a game that used to open up on 'on top' of windows xp. For some reason now it opens as a window in xp which is rather annoying as it's causing problems in the game. How can I change this back? I'm presuming it's a setting in Windows and not the game itself.

Make sure the internal setting in your game is set to run in "full-screen" mode rather than "in a window".
Or, if you are using a shortcut to run your game, right-click it -> Properties -> in the Run pull-down menu, make sure it says Maximized.

With many games you can press your F11 key to get full screen mode. Press it again to return to the window view.

go to settings and make windows your default settings. then move your game into a separate folder

I'm not sure what to do but try reinstalling the game.
