I tend to do that and it makes me and the other person feel awkward, it's just that I tend to want to know who I am talking to. But it feels like I'm being invasive, and I cannot stop the awkwardness afterward. It's like I can't keep my own thoughts to myself, but project them through eye contact.

Is that a weird description.. anyone feels like this

Some more details
The other person gets weirded out, and this makes me feel awkward.
I tend to know someone through their eyes.
I guess it's too intense. I can see their intent through their eyes, and usually a casual contact does not need that. I always feel so bad afterward.

Usually when people talk to others there would be a veil, and invisible wall enveloped by their own thoughts. I can get out of that and focus on the other person, even though i don't want to.

It sounds as if you hold the eye contact for too long. I don't mind (and actually LIKE) eye contact. I don't like to feel like a bug under a microscope, however. Try briefly looking in their eyes and then look away. Don't appear to be staring someone down.

i have the oppisite problem actually, i find it hard to have eye contact with people and if i think about ye contact then i move my eyes lol. Like i can walk past or talk to so many people without realising i havent actually had eye contact with any of them. I havent always done it though.
I know what you mean about it feeling invasive, it can be , espically if the person isn't as confident as you and may feel awkward, but i thnk its a good thing and it to me kind of shows directness in communication because your look them right in the eye as the saying goes. Oh and im sure your not projecting your thoughts through your eye contact but body language and some of how you are feeling can be shown through it im sure. Like if someone is nervous they will move there eyes around alot probably or look to the ground.

I don't see it as a problem...

It is the best way to tell someones character. The pupil of the eye never lies even when people do.

I actually make people uncomfortable when I speak to them because I have a very inquisitive stare and a great attention span for details that most other people miss in social interaction.

and I don't give a crap either, so I refuse to back off to make you feel more comfortable in my presence... Which REALLY makes them hate me! But oh well... I don't have the time to converse with idiots! I like to filter them out at the central nervous system...

Now that's not to say that people who refuse to look you in the eye are all liars... That is just not true, but they do usually have a thing or two to hide. Personal or otherwise...

Yes those same thoughts run through my mind. And I use to feel weird about it until I realized a lot of people do it. Now I think to myself, I am not so different and we all have weird quirks. And to top that off, when they do it, I think wow, they are just like me and maybe they are thinking what we think about when we do it. So maybe we are all aware that we all do it . Crazy cycle isn't it!

i always look people in the eyes , to me it is a sign of respect and that u are actually listening to the person who is talking, i would be offended if someone could not look me in the eyes, it's also a way to tell if people are lying ...shame to those who cant look people in the eyes .....i think its rude dont be shy , be proud of who u are ...not giving eye contact is a sign of weakness ...
