Because they are nasty little cry-babies who like to dish it out, but can't take it.

No
Look around at some of the psychos in these boards!
Would YOU want THEM to contact you indiscriminately?
Well! Now that you have me up on the soapbox:
What gets me is when people ask a question -- what do they choose as their best answer -- the lie that some ignorant person put forth as "gospel."
So, yea, "moronic" is the word of the year.
This site has me convinced that at 33% of the participants have no education, are naive, immature, use superstition to run their lives, and only want the answers that agree with those superstitions.
The second third are students looking for answers to homework.
*** I can understand the students that get stuck on a perplexing question and truly need help from the greater community. ***
But many are either too lazy to do the work or leave it to the last minute and let Ma and Pa (that's US, as the virtual family) help the little darlings along in their quest to cheat their way through life.
The last third are articulate, well meaning, sometimes highly educated, and often professionals or professional hobbyists in their fields.
Though, sometimes, this last third can give some whacked answers. We're ALL human after all.
There are a few people I'd like to communicate with further, but the nature of Yahoo QA is for the participants to stay gloriously anonymous.
I'm getting off my soapbox now ...

Yes it could, I think.
They want the freedom of posting ridiculous stuff without having to hear about it later.
Of course, I've discovered that when you allow e.mail (which originally I thought was a kind of neat thing to do) it turns out no matter how well intentioned your answer may be there's always somebody who will misinterpret something and send you an e.mail about what they imagine you meant!
I recently got one the other day from someone who said I "pigeon-holed" her as a horrible person when my answer had absolutely nothing to do with her whatsoever - honest!!
I have considered making e.mails impossible, but then I have to say I don't mind clarifying something I've said - and getting the occasional nice e.mail from someone is also kind of nice.
Maybe the people who don't allow e.mails and who give really stupid answers don't know their answers are stupid. Maybe there's just a set of personality traits that go together (like stupid answers and being cowardly and unfriendly).

I don't know about you, but these posters have been being very sassy with me lately. I was walking by one the other day. He was just a Backstreet boy poster hanging on the wall and he started smarting off to me. I told him to shove it and if he were a real man he'd put up his email adress. He didn't allow email contact and neither did that poster at work who was spitting on me, you know the one that says hang in there and had a kitty hanging from a tree limb.

I nonetheless do not look after the be conscious evolutionist. It sounds so deceptive. yet yeah its plausible they grew to develop into it off for the same reason I initially did, I wasn't confident what type of e-mails i might want to get if I left it on, so till I were given a sense for the position I left it off. Mine's on now regardless of the reality that.

I try to do my best answering people's serious questions and I don't allow anyone to contact me. It would just creep me out to get email from total strangers. I mean some people are very nice but others can be quite scary. I only give my email address to personal friends and family.
It's a shame if you've gotten lousy answers lately. I just ignore them and am grateful that those strange answer people can't try to harass or stalk me via email.
Have a good day out there!

No... I try to give the best answers I can, however, I don't want everyone in the world who disagrees with me emailing me all the time. Not only that, but I dont like giving out my email to just anyone as there's alot of strange people out there, call me paranoid or just cautious....

I answered a question, someone didn't like what I said and in no way was it offensive and he reported me as an adult content. I got 10 points taken away and I wrote yahoo & am waiting for them. A word of advise to everyone BE FAIR!

A controlling stake into the Bank Laumi was eventually bought by a US investment group to which the businessmen were unconnected.
Prosecutors first approached Mr Olmert at the end of October as part of a preliminary inquiry into the affair.
"The findings of the preliminary investigation led to the conclusion that there was a sufficient evidence to open a criminal investigation," a statement from the Israeli justice ministry said.

I usually try to give a well thought answer. If I don't it's because the question itself is ridiculous.
If someone disagrees with me that can say so publicly, within the question itself. Is there something they want to say privately that they can't say on a public forum?
