Hi, the Kennel Club has a puppy register & lots of advice on buying a puppy on their website:
http://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/item/436

Another place to try is the Champdogs site (used mainly by breeders who also exhibit their dogs):
http://www.champdogs.co.uk/guided/all_maltese.html
Most breeders have waiting lists ...so if they don't have the perfect puppy for you at the moment ...

I'd also recommend looking on the ePupz site:
http://www.epupz.co.uk/search/puppies_for_sale.asp?breed=Maltese+Terrier&area=all&st=1&Submit=Search+++
You can search by area - though you do have to register with ePupz to get the contact details (this is free ... unless the advert is less than five days old when they'd like you to pay them to get the contact details - a one off payment of about £5 I think). The ePupz site also has the facility to send you an email if an ad is placed that matches your wants.

You could possibly also try the Maltese Rescue:
Mrs Walker - Tel: 01294 313 062 - Irvine

Good luck

Look at the bottom of this page and you will find a contact for the Scottish Maltese Club. They should be able to put you in contact with reputable breeders
