Open communication is everything, he's knows that you are best friends because one or the other has expressed that. Now take that openness that you have in them as a friend to another level. If it does not work leave it alone. It's a reason you and him started out as only friends.

Ther's nothing better than really liking your best friend! You can't base anything until a friendship really has formed! Start up conversations to see if he's really into you like for ex: "you know, it's so easy to tell you things and I'm really glad we get along, I hope it doesn't end" kind of thing; then see what he says. You may be suprised!!! Go for it!

well when you are in a situation like that it can be very awkward!! but i am going to have to agree with kf17 just go for it!! whats there to lose?? and if he said no just say ok do you think we can still be friends!! who could say no!!! i know it may ruin your friendship but go through what your heart thinks is right and if you think you should ask him then ask him out!! and if it doesnt work out just remember boys can be stupid!!
