Peanuts aren't bad. The salt isn't good - just like too much salt isn't good for humans - and considering that most dogs do not weigh what a human weighs, a little salt goes a long way. It's just going to make them drink more and retain some water (the sodium ion does that). That can be a dangerous situation on a 100o day but under normal circumstances, it shouldn't be problematic. Many people give their dogs peanut butter stuffed into kongs. So again, peanuts, not a big deal! Chocolate can be - but again, it depends on what kind (white chocolate, milk chocolate, dark chocolate), how much is consumed, and the size of your dog. It isn't the chocolate that is toxic, it's the chemical theobromine contained in the chocolate that is (which is why white chocolate isn't a problem - other than you are feeding your dog sugar!). The general rule of thumb - which makes life so much simpler, is never give a dog chocolate. That way, you don't have to worry about whether or not Fido ate too much, if you need to induce vomiting or go directly to the vet.

High salt intake is bad I suppose - but I feed mine about three if I am having some - all I would say is if you decide+
to try out nuts and raisins - maybe you feel like a change - DON'T feed the dogs raisins... They are just dried grapes and grapes are very bad for dogs in large quantities -
A friend of mines dog ate a bunch off the table once and ended up in intensive care (the dog not her!) as I think they ferment in the stomach and well - they are nasty - like chocolate! Dogs don't do well on our chocolate as you probably know.

There is a lot of salt in peanuts, so the dog will get very thirsty. Also peanuts are hard to digest, so it may interfere with the dogs` bowel motions. Remember that dogs are not that different to humans when it comes to digestion; like humans, individual dogs could be allergic to nuts and they could cause allergies or death.

Won't hurt a thing.
The dog will not ingest enough salt from a hand full of peanuts to be a problem, and the nuts are dogs favorite food.

Give your mrs a bowl of snacks for the dog like bits of apple, carrot sticks and dog biscuits & chews. A couple of peanuts won't hurt. But its really not fair on a dog to give it stuff thats not good for it.

Peanuts won't hurt your dog, however too much salt most definitely will, it could even be fatal for a dog in extreme cases!

My husband feeds my long-haired chihuahua peanuts too. She's so adamant about having one when he settles in to watch t.v. that he calls her "the peanut whore". She'll do anything for one! He only gives her half of a peanut and she knows that's all she gets. It hasn't harmed her in any way, and she and my husband both enjoy it!

I prefer both fruits and fruit and vegetables better, however they look and taste. You desire a little of both.

It isnt really all that bad. dogs need salt, that is why they lick your face and hands and such. just not too much because it wont digest properly and it will hurt the dog when it tries to use the restroom.
