to be over 21 and still live with your parents?

I guess it depends on what you are doing with your life. If you are unemployed, living in their basement watching Star Wars all day long then yes. If you are pursuing an education or gainfully employed and contributing to the household, then by all means, live at home.

It depends. Americans are bigbg on independence and freedom. So, they might find it embarrassing to live with one's parents after the age of even 18, because they think that you should assert your independence and be on your own. It is also a sense of pride.
But, other cultures, do not feel the same way. Men and women live with their parents until they marry.
Now, they have jobs and contribute to the household expenses. If you are 21 and still living with your parents, evaluate yourself:
what are you doing to help your family or further your education?
Are you still acting as if you are a child or are you acting like an adult?
If you have a girlfriend and want to engage in sexual activity with her, or a boyfriend and want to do the same, then, a place of your own would be best.
Basically, it does depend on the situation.
Sometimes it is embarrassing, but only if you are acting much younger than you really are.
So, it is not the "living with your parents," it is your maturity level and actions: whether you live with your parents or not.
But, others might disagree.

no. well I'm 19 and in college and I don't plan to leave until I get my degree. By then I'll be almost 21. So if you're going to school and not just living off your parents then it's okay.

My Son lives with me and he is 26. He has spent 4 years in the Army and been all around the country, he is going to school so I am helping him out by being there for him. He will move out when he is able. if you can say that sort of thing then I say no but if you are just doing nothing with your life and sponging off them then the answer is yes. there is alot of reasons for things and I don't have all the facts in order to give you a better answer-sorry

May be embarrasing in west but I dont think it is a embrassing issue . Well they brought us up and love and gave shelther all 2o years I dont think leaving them is the best thing to do . When we needed help they did now its them who will get old eventually and they need our care . We should love them and feel proud . Life is not about leaving parents . But now a days things are different . Its all up to you .

No, not at all. I mean, if you're over 30, then YES! OR, if you're over 21 and have a good enough job to live on your own. OR if you are just mooching. If you are over 21 and working toward something, or toward getting your own place, then no, it's not embarrassing.

Not at all. I am waiting to finish school and get a job to move out. Once I am stable, then I'll move out. Or else I would be in so much problems if I lived on my own and had to school which is 32,000.

Not really. If you are working and have a social life and you make your own decisions it's okay. It may just be a matter of economics that makes you have to stay home a liitle longer.

Depends on the situation,I guess....if you are living with them and think this is a perfect situation that doesn't need to change,I'd say it's unhealthy...but if you are looking for your own place by now, there is nothing wrong....

I'm 22 and I technically live with my folks (college), but as soon as the semester's done I'm finding a place on my own.
