I see the things that are happening in UK as a precursor of what is in store for me in the USA. I like Britons. They're educated and funny etc etc...but why so passive? The national obesity epidemic is worse there than here. The UK is a police state. London is the most monitored city in the world. Do a search for "secure under the watchful eyes" to see a poster of the Transport Authority. Orwellian. The nation that pioneered civil liberties centuries ago is also the one pioneering the democratic removal of them. Then there's the whole row about Blunkett trying to force national ID cards down the throats of the populace. Despair. Yet the populace is fighting it! Blunkett was booted out! Ireland is taking the opposite course. They created a flat tax and are suddenly one of the most rapidly growing economies in Europe. Hope!

I support and like the Britons, but to be completely honest, to say British, four words come to mind-
Tea, Crumpits, Bad Teeth

I don't know many people fron Britain, those I do know are great people, funny, educated and surprisingly warm once you get to know them.

Your record of foreign policy is another matter. Just look at almost any of your former colonies and you'll find a conflict zone. India, Cyprus, Israel (not a colony but had part in founding it)... The USA took over after WWII though, so Britain is not in the spotlight anymore.

But great people, I should think. Too bad none of them ever get to government.

They seem cool enuf to me. Scots especially since they're sum of the tuffest guys around. Gotta luv the history and usage of the pound especially with its application in standardizing the entirety of the empire.

And of all the wars fought by the British, nothing epitomizes their ingenuity and profile more than their efforts in the Boer War (2nd one in particular). Just shows their good taste in adventure.

I think the british should have dumped the royals a long time ago.
I know they really don't have that much power but what is the purpose in still having a king or a queen? just a waste of your resources but i guess it does look quaint.

the american royals are in hollywood. they are just for show too.

I consider them to be awfully tolerant of the intolerable, and am puzzled by their complaicency as their government continues to deprive them of their rights and liberties. I've never understood their acceptance of socialism, and do not understand their desire to cede their sovereignty to the EU.

I've otherwise thought of them as a tough, smart, sturdy people, firmly grounded, with a great dry sense of humor, and who made gin into the nectar of the gods. I've always liked Brits from when I lived there as a boy.

I've always loved the Brits since my time over there as a military wife, except for a couple of bitchy women, not much different than here! :)

I'm a big fan!

The Brits are great. Of course, the ones I deal with are soldiers like me, so we all have a common bond, anyway.

I like most of them. They tend to be more civilized than Americans (except for when watching football).
