i'm a 21y/o full time student. i get really good grades. i have good family values. i have a bf that i am 100% loyal to. now the problem is that i go clubbing some times. i have a few friends that are real party animals but i dont go out with them all the time. i have a mind of my own and i'm not a follower. one night, i went out with these girls and we ended up getting home at 5am. we werent doing anything bad, just hanging out. next week is one of those girls 21 b-day and my bf doesnt want me to go out with her because he is afraid that i may stay out late again. my argument is that your 21 bday only comes around once and i want to be able to spend it with my friend. regardless of what time we end up staying out, i think i should have no problem going with her. my bf on the other hand thinks that i have no respect for myself and that i have to class because of this. he says that i am living as if i am single which i dont agree with. what do you think ?

I would go anyhow, his opinion matters and let him know that... Go out but don't stay all night, give yourself a curfew and let him know what you are doing, but don't let him try to control you.. be yourself and enjoy life..

First of all, you ARE single. He is your boyfriend, not your husband.

Second, this type of controlling behavior on the part of your bf is extremely unhealthy. This is nothing short of emotional blackmail on his part and this often leads to other forms of mental and physical abuse in relationships.

My advice is that if he is unwilling to let you live your life by your own values, you have got to get rid of your bf - and make it darned quick too. Believe me, if you give in to him, you will in time become yet another victim of partner abuse.
