High fructose corn syrup is made from genetically modified corn treated with genetically modified enzymes. It prevents the body from making insulin and so it won't break the sugars in your blood and have your body change it into stored fat. isn't that what we try to prevent by using those produts.
HFCS goes straight to your liver and doesn't do anything good for your body.
I was struck when I found this ingredient on my Special K box, to get me into a healthier breakfast and do the eat 2 loose 6 thing, well, no wonder it ain't working.

I know it's cheaper, but isn't it a contradictionary fact that while you want to eat healthy and maybe even loose weight the add a item tn there that actually causes you to get fat or get diabetes in the longterm?

very true. they try to get us out of eating foods that are packed with sugar by substituting it with sweeteners and all other things i can`t even pronounce. however this is not to say that non-diet products are better. they are just as bad as each other. so if you are looking to eat healthily it is best to raw foods i.e fruit and veg. and go into your local health food store and you will find alot of products that are just what they are. by that i mean for example corn flakes that is 100% cornflakes and nothing else and things like that

it is the cheapest form of sugar...
when they take the fat out of products, which ALL diet products have done, b/c people think that it is the fat in food that makes them fat and not the calories as it is, they replace it with sugar. There if HFCS because it is cheapest to put in!!

You've done some solid home work girl. Guess we can't trust the manufacturers of "diet products"? My guess to answer your question is that people crave sweets and that "diet products" with corn syrup sells better?

Apparently this is used because it is cheaper, has a much longer shelf life, and is easier to blend and transport because it is a liquid. You can read more here
