We don't. We use and abuse it's resources to make life easier and more entertaining for ourselves but we certainly don't make it a better place for any of the other creatures living in it.

Well when i lived on Venus....we stored our resourced. We use gravity inductors to power our vehicles. and solar power to power everything else. lol Humans on earth? Well humans dont respect earth. Its mind boggling that we are on a planet in the middle of a universe and we live. If you take a minute out of time to think about this it is quite amazing! But the only reason i can say humans improve earth is there is so many good humans. Some that display compassion. Humans have a strength that is unpresidented! And that strength is survival!

I think we neither better the Earth or lower it. Why? The Earth was here long before us. It'll be here long after we are all dust and ants rule the planet-and send other ants to Mars to explore.
The Earth simply doesn't care. We have been the dominate species here for such a short time. We have changed much. But, like that abandoned house you drive by-nature reclaims her own. Yes, some of the structures, chemicals and nuclear waste will take a few million years to degrade. But, remember, a few million years to the Earth is a blink of it's geological eye. I like to put human in perspective. We are very small. We think we are all that. We could die from a meteor next week-just like the dinosaurs supposedly did many many moons ago. And, the Earth would soldier on.

Now, are humans inproving human civilization? Yes, I think we do. Why? As bad as the world is today, most are better off than they were say 1000 years ago. More people are educated, life spans are longer, there is more food,etc... than there has ever been. Now, the distribution of education, goods and services is not universal. In fact, many are starving while others throw out food.
But, I'm of the belief that many of the problems of man are coming to a head. We will either learn to get along or wipe each other out. Small countries will soon have to ability to cause widespread destruction. But, I really believe that when the dust settles, the civilization will be much improved. Those that want to keep their people living in huts with their heads buried in the sand will lose out. Religions that are strangling societies will evolve or die out-not just taking Islam, I included all religions.

Despite what you hear in the news, or because of it, people are seeking to reach for a world for their children free from ignorance, bias, hunger, thirst,etc....Those that have kept them in the dark for so very long, will eventually fail. Why do you think so many nations are in turmoil. The old rule seeks to stomp out any loss of power or control.

I wouldn't go so far as to say we are parasites but I do think human life has had a negative effect on the Earth. So yes, I suppose the planet would be better off without human beings.

I don't think their is a species on Earth that makes things better for the Earth! Some species are more destructive than others us being the worst offenders but still as far as actually making the Earth better no species does!

BUT...nearly all other species (if not all) give back to the earth what they take away, so they work with nature ....WE JUST TAKE.TAKE TAKE!!!

NO, It's OURS - all ours, and we'll use it and destroy it as we see fit!

But then again, the Earth has a way or ridding itself of pests so in about 10 million years it'll just shakes us off like a bad case of fleas and that will be that!

ever since the first humans were on the earth they began destroying it, taking and using it as their own, killing other animals for food and for fun, polluting the air, ground and water.

while now we try to reduce our impact on the planet, we do nothing atall to improve it

We certainly have the ability to do so. However with all the greedy politicians and leaders of the world what chance do we have. Man is the only species that kills for any reason other than survival.
