because the church would be an empty shell without them.

Quite honestly, I have no idea. I do, however believe that Organised Religeons are a bad idea in several respects. One is, that if you don't believe as everyone else does, you are chastised, and ostracised for your beliefs. As the saying goes, Power corrupts, and Absolute Power corrupts absolutely. There is all the priests, and Ministers who have been robbing their congregation blind, the pedophiles who molest children, and now we have priests who are telling their flock that if they do not vote republican, they will NOT be allowed communion. Since when does a church have a right to deny someone Communion for not voting a certain way? Would Jesus do such a thing? I thought God was to be for everyone, not just a select few whom the Priests, or Ministers choose. If the Churches want to get into politics, then there is no longer a seperation of Church and State, and the Churches need to start paying taxes like everybody else!
The Catholic Church is the worst offender, in my opinion. When a Catholic priest molests a child, the Church relocates the Priest, and he does it again, while the Catholic Church denies that it ever happened, a lie. Recently the Catholic Church stated that it had made up the idea of Limbo, another lie. Thats two. How many other lies has the catholic Church told, where they haven't been caught yet? They state that they do not believe in birth control, but at the same time, own the parent company of Trojan condoms. How much has the Church ever given to the needy, of their great wealth? Does it not say that He who would be the Greatest of mine shall be the Least of mine? If so, why is the Pope, and Bishops living in utter wealth, eating the finest foods, wearing the best clothes, and has the best medical care in the world, when so very many go hungry, have little to wear, cannot afford health care at all, and live in run down quarters? The Catholic Church hordes wealth beyond belief, has gold, emeralds, rubies, diamonds, etc, but yet cannot bring themselves to help any who are poor and destitute. Does this sound like the teachings of Christ to you? It surely does not to me. I'm sure I will be ostrasised, and chastised for putting this on answers, but it does bear thinking about, does it not?

For strength to persevere and fight the good fight to the end.
We need to have weapons in the spiritual warfare we are in. To obtain these spiritual gift it would help to;
Pray-the Holy Rosary, to St. Micheal the archangel
Partake in the sacraments of Reconciliation-confession, the Eucharist-communion
Fast and do penance

Because everyone is gifted in differnt areas. If everyone had the same gift, somethings wouldn't be done. If everyone had the spiritual gift of hospitality, there would be lots of social functions, but no one with the ability to preach.

No one is making people give money the Church. Its a choice. They like it and they get a some good feelings for it. Probably a feeling of community and a good feeling of generosity. Its better than taxes where you got no choice to pay.

Everyone loves presents. Also, supposedly they found some verse in the King James bible that shows that there is a limit to the amount of souls/people that can actaully enter heaven. So, they are giving gift out on earth just incase you didn't get in when they said you would.

Because to reject any gift given of God through his Holy Spirit is an insult to him.

God gives us spiritual gifts to use them. If you don't know what yours is, then talk to your minister or Sunday school teacher.
