Late on paying my 2006 real estate taxes. If they are paid now (or up until "x" time), can they still be applied to this year's tax return - or do they have to go on next years' return?

They are deductible in the year actually paid. If you paid them in 2007, then you'd deduct them on your 2007 return, the one you'll file early in 2008.

The tax was due in 2006, so it will most certainly be applied to the 2006 tax year - regardless of when you paid it.

Check with a tax consultant on the proper course. Usually you stay within the year's annual return to pay for that year.
