Supplements are the third corner of a triangle -the other two being DIET & EXERCISE. Any one deficient is a sure way of failure of any fitness programme !

Depending upon what you plan to do eg. muscle building, getting ripped (don't say both at the same time....it is just impossible), or just keeping fit etc. there are supplements for each and every need.

You must trust the reputable makes like Weider's or others. I would recommend the Weider monthly publications like Muscle Fitness or Flex as a guide.. I have been reading them for the past 14 years.

Good Luck.

I use protein supplements, creatine and ZMA.

Protein shakes are just a convenient way of getting more quality protein -though they should always be treated as a supplement and not a replacement for many chickens eggs etc.

Creatine is an excellent product if you are looking for gains in anything power-related, and you can increase strength rapidly. It has been around for many years, it occurs naturally in the body (and in red meat) and there are no sideaffects that I'm aware of.

ZMA is simply a mineral compound that helps to increase testosterone production and therefore increased muscle mass.

There are a number of products out there that f*ck with your hormones, and list side effects sich as oily skin etc -stay away from these, I tried one product once and it seriously affected my mood!

In terms of fat burning products like thermobol, I've never used them so can't really comment. Though endurance products (such as Maximuscle's Viper) do what they say they do.

For brands, EAS are good, and maximuscle are also established and well trusted -I used products from both.

remember that correct exercise, good diet and lots of sleep come first though -supplements are just that, they should be added on once you're sure you're everything else right -you can down all the creatine you want, but if you're not eating enough quality protein, it wont make the slightest bit of difference!

These are full of stimulants such as caffeine and taurine, what they do is get you so wired up you can't sit still. If you have any respiratory or cardiac issues they can be dangerous. They don't really help, they just cost lots of money. There's possibly a placebo effect at first, you do a bit better because you're taking something you *expect* to help, but the positive effects aren't lasting.

Yes some of them do work and some are just a waste of money.
You did not say what your tiring to achieve.

Gain weight simply eating grape jelly and peanut butter in combination with milk and milk powder added to the milk will beef you up.

As for fat burners, ( Caffine, asprin, ephedra.) Put youur metabolic system in over drive. hydroxycut Costs too much for what you see. GH3 is really good but the possiblity of poor health out weighs the resk of using it.
The best energiser I've used so far is Rockstar and beaver feul.
Ginseng and Maca. Rhodiola rosea

Chances are if someones trying to sell you it, it's no good, the good stuff sells itself. Ask at your local gym. Better still ask a personal trainer, but that might cost you!? The best thing is a good all round diet and plenty of exercise and a good nights sleep. I've been researching this stuff for ages, need to get fit again for charity trek up mountains, not done this sort of thing for a few years.

Yes mate they do. Protein is very important for muscle growth. Fat burners can work, only with a diet though.Energises, basicly a legal steroid, these are ok for training, would keep away though, too much can lead to heart attack. And recovery drinks, do work, most have got good energy in them to put back vital nutrients that the dody haslost whilst training. i have protein shake, before training, and a lucozade after.and a good shower.

all of above would probably help you achieve what you are aiming for quicker than doing it yourself but all those thing have side and later effects in the name of diabetes, kidney and liver problems. ur best bet is to rely on your energy and put in the extra effort to get the results you want without the things you have mentioned. if you find that ur energy level is low then try to get it from your foods or vitamins and herbal teas such as green tea and ginseng

You are going to have to do a lot more research. Most of them work to an extent, but they all do very different things. The best "free advice" will come from asking the guys that work out at the local gym. Don't try to do everything at once. Good luck!
