I would think it depends on the kind of flavoring you're going to use. Because cool whip is inexpensive, you might try it on a little bit first.....maybe half a cup or so.
Try different things until you get what you want.

Yes Sandra Lee on Semi Homemade does it all the time to give it a more homemade taste. She also does it with the icing from a can as well as the cool whip. You can add vanilla extract, lemon extract, almond extract etc etc to compliment the flavor of whatever you are topping.

Yes, you can add liquid flavoring. My favorite way of flavoring whipped cream is adding a box of instant pudding.

yes you can, you just add the flavoring, in drops, and use a whisk or a spoon and gently and very slow fold the whip cream, make sure you keep air in it, that's what will keep it nice and fluffy

yes you sure can i make a killer pinapple cool whip angel cake
you pour the cruched or chunked pinapple in a bowl and add cool whip then use a mixer and blend good together it taste really good i have also tried it with other fruit also its lo fat and lo in calories, really great for people with sweet tooth they get the sweet with out the fat, enjoy
