I am interested in THOSE that claim that they are "ATHEISTS" and did they GET or RECEIVE any Christmans Presents?

"IF THEY DID, = Are They Really ATHEISTS?" Or is it = "All JUST TALK?

DID THEY GIVE = "ANY BACK", = Saying No Thank YOU? ? ?

Thanks, RR

Some Atheist don't celebrate Christmas. I'm an Atheist and I gave Christmas present and received some. That has absolutely nothing to do with being an Atheist. It hast to do with being a descent human being. An Atheist isn't tied by customs like religions. An Atheist is free to do any damn thing they please. My family celebrates Christmas. We gave each other presents and we don't leave each other out. I didn't return any of my gifts. It would have been an insult. Neither did any one give any of their gifts back to me. We weren't giving the gifts to Jesus Christ. We were giving the gifts out of love for one another. When one becomes an Atheist they only denounce religion as their personal belief, they don't denounce the human race. BB

Giving and receiving a Christmas gift has nothing to do with admitting Christ was born. But even so admitting Christ was born is a far cry from admitting Christ was God.

Someone said Atheist use Christmas to make money and receive Gifts. That is the silliest description of Christmas I have heard. It is Christians who have commercialized Christmas, sorry pal.

Dude, Christmas is part of the western culture now.

Actually, most of what people do on Christmas has been celebrated a VERY long time before the birth of Jesus! So, yes, I had a Christmas tree (Pagan). We gave gifts (Pagan). I had a wreath on my door (Pagan). Also, family came over and we had a feast (Pagan). It's all about family... mostly little kids. It's a time of remembering the old year (or trying to forget!) and looking forward to the new at New Years.

Oh, and, my daughter got her picture taken with Santa in the mall.... Well... OK, that's more modern than Pagan. LOL

We celebrate a Secular (and it seems Pagan LOL) Christmas/New Years season in our house.

The only people in our family, really, that get bigs gifts are children (not more than $200). Everyone else gets something small and usually needed. :-)

I was an atheists, but then I got a present a believed in God. Why would giving and receiving presents mean they are all talk? Christmas is not so much a religious holiday, but a social holiday. Most don't celebrate the way it was intended for Christians, most celebrate the way it was intended for capitalism.

My family and friends know that I'm an atheist, and I don't celebrate Christmas. Whether it's pagan or Christian, it's still a religious holiday, like Easter, which I also don't observe. Since I don't believe in the supernatural, I can't make it be about Santa either, and I despise commercialism anyway. I don't celebrate Christmas in any way at all, including giving or receiving gifts. We buy gifts on birthdays, and also now and again, "just because".

Yes, there are many people who are not Christian including (some) pagans, wiccans, muslims, etc. who partake in the secular celebration of Christmas which has nothing to do with Jesus.

As it was originally a pagan holiday that Christians adopted and made their own, it is now also a secular holiday with a separate set of beliefs and traditions.

Since the Christian Christmas is about giving, not receiving, did any Christians give those presents back saying "No, thank you"?

Don't bar anyone from celebrating Jesus birthday, even an atheist. It may be the closest they ever get to the gospel. Anyone who gives or receives a gift on Christmas is admitting that Christ was born and received gifts from the three wise men. So let them give and receive, Christ's birthday is for all, not just his followers.

Yes.
As an atheist I am allowed to adopt any ridiculous religious practice I choose. Doing this in no way signifies any loyalty or belief in said religion, only that I like giving and giving gifts to my family and friends. If it really offends you that I call it Christmas and celebrate it on Christmas day than you are a moron.

Absolutely. Christmas is a cultural event, as well as a religious one. The giving and receiving gifts and celebrating festivals at the mid-winter long predates the Christian feast.

Of course, I do. Christmas is not a religious holiday. No where in the bible or in religious doctrine do it say that giving gifts on Dec. 25 has anything to do with religion. Santa Clause is a secular not a religious symbol.

So anyone who gives or receives presents at Christmas must secretly be a Christian? What logic does that follow?
