A few simple things can actually go a long way & the stuff i'm going to mention can be found just about anywhere & sometimes for pretty cheap. Don't go overboard. You can still have a few simple things & it still be so romantic. I've actually seen a room with items such as below & it was beautiful. The atmosphere just screamed romantic & relaxing.

Muted or warm colors like cocoa/browns, off whites, beiges & reds (not bright but deep wine & burgundy type shades) for the walls, bedding or other decor.

sheer pale flowing curtains (black lace & red velvet are just trashy & tacky!)

sheer canopy on the bed (a round or 4 poster one can be found at bed bath & beyond for $20 - $40, i personally have the round one)

candles (in/on glass, crystal or mirrored holders or trays with glass stones)

real or faux (fake) roses or other flowers in vases spread throughout the room...just don't over-do it of course

black & white photographs. a wonderful suggestion would be ones by Kim Anderson. some are cute but romantic themed photos using children & they're mostly black & white w/ a few things in color. absolutely beautiful! I own a few myself. here's an example of one: http://www.3w-stars.de/1000000/1000518.htm

When I think of a romantic room, I think of everything white. Maybe with some roses sprinkled around, and candles.. sentimental pictures. I know it all sounds generic, but that's what came to mind!

It's more about what goes on in the room then what it looks like. Flowers and candles are enough. Black lace or red velvet curtains should be in a brothel.

Looking into my husbands eyes........ First off, they are this piercing blue color...that just reels you in naturally....there's not a hint of darkness or anger in his eyes.. they are sweet and caring eyes...and then I think...."You are my bestfriend... and have been since we were 13... never cared to think of another cause you are everything I wanted. You treat me like an angel and do the world for me. You are a sensitive, sweet and understanding person. How was I so lucky to find you?..I love you so much.."
