was feeling scatty on sunday after a night of excess and no sleep and for no reason this question popped into my head. Tis very random but its now annoying me. Obviously they blink, but can they wink? I diddnt want to poke my dog in the eye to find out so thought id ask you guys...

yeah my dog does all the time, she goes "hey Davey" then a sly little wink afterwards.

um... how is it a big deal if your dog winks at you??? maybe he has something in his eye? its like the most normal thing your dog can do??? it does not mean anything if he winks maybe its a disease called move of one eye * sarcastically :p* not to be mean but if you take your dog to the vet because he winked at you, there going to think your on crack! sorry... but its true. Do not worry if your dog winks...(:but if you want the actual fact of why they wink its because one eye is dry and they have to refresh it kind of like contacts when your eye gets dry you must blink to refresh it.

My dog winks all the time but I don't think is does do it intentionally - he doesn't do the head movement that usually goes with a wink!

Yeah, they can, and they will do it often, but if it's like every 6 seconds then you may need to take them to a vet b/c their tear ducts may be dry and they may need assistance....
