my bf says that he loves me, and i honestly do love him, but my ex said that he loved me too, then a month later he broke up with me claiming that he only wanted to have sex and since he didnt get what he wanted he didnt think we should be together anymore. so my question is, how do i know that he truly means it when he says i love you? (there is no sex between us,and we have talked about the situation a lot, he knows what my ex did and thinks that it was wrong, hes never tried to push me into anything)

It's the way he looks at you. What you feel when you just can lay there and look into each others eyes. How you can see right through him through his eyes. How you can see the truth in his eyes when you look at them. The little things he does for you without you asking and just sporadically.
I understand you have trust issues but, he isn't your ex and you shouldn't make him suffer for what your ex did to you. I'm not saying go jump in the sack with him right now (I actually have respect for you for waiting) but, cut him some slack. He obviously has some sort of strong feelings for you to still be with you when he knows that he won't be getting some for a little while. I mean obviously guys sex drives are crazy, so it means something when a male can respect a females decision to want to wait because of any reason and if he does he must have strong feelings.
He deserves more credit and trust than you give him honey.

The fact that he's respected your priorities is a very promising sign.
Sure, it's possible that he just wants to use you, but if he does, he has a monstrous amount of patience, he's a fantastic liar, and he's picking the wrong target. Not likely.
Watch what he does, what makes him irritated, what he does when you argue. Does he try to manipulate you, make you feel bad, or punish you when you do something he doesn't like? Does he try to force things on you that are against your personality? Does he not take "no" for an answer? Those would be very bad signs.
Instead, does he pay attention to what you tell him is important, make compromises, look out for your best interests, support your dreams and desires, try to comfort you when you're sad, and look out for things that will make you happy? When you drag him along for some of your less interesting hobbies, is he politely patient? These are signs of love, not signs of a manipulative con artist. These are trustworthy signs.

if the guy says that he loves u when u guys r not in bed, he probably means it. Don't get too carried away tho ,just because he probably means it . Don't give up your goodies that easily, let him love u, not what u can offer in bed. Try to justify his words by his actions, how he speaks to u around his friends and in private , look into his eyes -they say the eyes r the windows to the heart, don't go sneakin' around to find out if he's with someone else.

I agree with someone else who said that the way to tell that if he really does love you is if he's willing to wait to sleep with you. Unlike your ex who broke up with you because you did which was good by the way. If your new boyfriend really does love you then he won't pressure you to have sex with him and he'll wait until your ready.

What I say is ditch the son of a *****,all he wants is what you have between your legs andf thats definitly not love.If you don't listen to me and go ahead and love this guy you will end up being heart broken.

if he loves you, you'll know and wouldn't have to ask if he truly loves you. saying i love you can mean a lot of things though, it can mean that they care about you a lot and that they love being with you. when they do love you even they don't have to say it - but it's nice if they do.
