Are you sure the engine is a chevy 454? This engine was never offered in a Firebird. It may be a big block Pontiac engine such as a 455. If it is the car will be more valuable as it will appear to be original if someone does not check the numbers. One way to tell the difference between a Chevy engine and a Pontiac engine is the intake manifold. The Pontiac intake has runners going to each port that have air gaps between them and the Chevy does not. If it is a Chevy engine then the transmission is most likely not from a Firebird as the Buick,Olds,Pontiac(BOP) transmission have a distinctive bolt pattern that does not fit Chevy engines. It may be a turbo 350 that was behind a small block Chevy engine but if so it will not likely be strong enough for a big block unless professionally built. In answer to your question there are many variables. Even though the body is original it may be very rough, the engine and trans may be from a junkyard garden variety pickup with no performance, the interior may be worn out, the frame may be rotted. If the above describes your car it may only be worth $500-2000 but if the engine is a Pontiac, the body and frame and interior are nice it may be worth over $20,000 to the right buyer. You may be able to get close to that even if the engine is a Chevy if you find the right buyer. A better place to look would be autotrader.com to compare similar cars. Good luck.
