Not sure why you think it's "courageous" to refuse to fight.
As others stated, it is an all-volunteer military, with people understanding they're expected to follow any legal military order given them, or be court-martialed.
Just because some people believe a war to be stupid and immoral, does not make it so - there are people who oppose war simply because they think war for anyhing (including for freedom, liberation, to stop genocide, etc) is wrong. Those people always rely on others who don't feel that way to protect them.
But a legal order is a legal order, and there's no such thing as a conscientious objector in a volunteer military. If they had such reservations, they shouldn't have joined. It is basically a craven action to claim CO status now.

Hey! Agree or disgree with your boss, he is still your boss and the one calling the shots. Nobody forced any troop to sign on the dotted line. It was a contract they entered into of their own accord.
The contract didn't say anything about the troops having the right to refuse if they didn't agree with the war.
Being in the USA military takes courage. Fighting in a war takes Courage. Putting your life on the line takes courage!! Signing into a military contract takes courage!!

It really does frustrate the far left that today's military is not that of the Vietnam era. Just be glad they are doing the hard work for you so you can complain and fret every time the Draft post happens on these boards. (Remember you may get your chance to refuse to fight, for Rep Rangle D-NY and the party you voted for are back... and he is the one how has submitted bills for a draft)
This is why we have a all-volunteer service.

NO! We have a volunteer military! Unlike, most countries, we serve for our duty. There are people of all ages who joined up after 9/11 for a sense of a more honor and duty. During wartime or peacetime,we get to learn skills as well.

What you have to realize is that a lot of them dont want to fight in the war but do thier job because that is what they signed up to do. It takes a hell of a lot more courage to fight in a war than it does to refuse to fight. Infact there is a word for people who refuse to fight. They are called cowards

You obviously know nothing about the military. From the day they step off the bus for boot camp, they are trained to obey orders without questioning. That's a really stupid statement you just put on here.
