People in this country need to read an anthropology book. 80% of the societies in this world allow a man to marry more than one woman. All mammal species that have sex dimorphism (male larger than female) are polygynous, meaning one male with many female sex partners. Most marriages end in divorce and most men cheat. Men naturally want variety. Wanting variety has nothing to do with whether one loves ones partner, it is natural. Read the study that found the best predictor of adultery was availability of opportunities to cheat. Don't listen to me, look these things up. Who disagrees with this?

For those who are interested in the women, polyandry (one women, many men) occurs in only 0.5% of the societies in the world, 160 times less then the 80% of men. Also, the average woman want 4 partners in their life, men want 18.

My sources are an introductory anthropology book, a lot of the work of David Buss (an evolutionary psychologist), and a book on romantic love written by a social psychologist. I have a master's degree in cognitive psychology and computer science, with an emphasis on relationships and probabilitistic reasoning. For more information look up sex dimorphism, evolutionary psychology, comparative cultural anthropology, and predictors of adultery on the web.

I for one would like to see a list of links to the study that states that 80% of the societies allow men to marry more than one wife. For that matter how about sources for all of your conclusions.
I disagree with just about everything you have to say. Men cheat cause they neither respect the person they are with nor the relationship AND are not thinking of either of them at the time. Variety and instinctual activities of male sexual habits is horseshit and has generally been accepted as horseshit for oh lets see about 10000 years ever since the first laws were enacted setting up marriage. Even men (who set up those laws) realized that they did not need to run around and stick their **** in everything.
Divorce rate is around 60% not 100%. of those I would be willing to bet less than 100% are attributed to men cheating so there goes one of your facts.
I hate it when uninformed people try and sound like they did research by using big words and using unsubstantuated sources.
Ahh i see you are a beginning year anthr. Great. Ok try and not take into account every grouping of humans since the stone age. Society has evolved at a rate somewhere near 10000 times faster than humans. That said it means that man's baser instincts are controllable and wallowing in them is a consicious decision. your statements are misleading because you are grouping societies into the equation that have been dead for thousands of years. You are also grouping in primative man.
What is the percentage of today's societies that allow this? It is not 80%.
And if you say it is I will need sources, definition of society, original studies and the such. I am will to acknowledge statistical information and will even read anything to understand the information. But this statement is just plain false. I have been married for 3 years and have not felt the need to cheat. Not once! So it is obviously an opinion and not a fact.

It doesn't sound abnormal to me, just pretty dammmmned boring. I don't make love everyday, but it's not by choice, it's because my animal is pretty dammmned boring too. He's a great lover, but he doesn't want to do it as often as I. When we do it, it lasts for hours but I wish it would last forever, and could do it all day if he stayed in bed that long. Toys are just toys, and are fun if your partner gives out on you and you didn't get enough. You need to break the routine woman! Don't ask him if you can try something new, just do it. If lovemaking never started in the kitchen or the backyard....it's time to try it, when in bed hop on him, then slide down and give him the BJ of his life but don't let him finish, then make him pin you up against the wall, just do something you've never done and talk dirty to him, he will love it. Tell him about how it would be if he was doing 2 women right now, and this one was doing this and you were doing that....let your imagination run wild, woman. If your sex life is satisfying now, imagine how much better it will be when your guy wants it more often and is looking forward to the kissing and wild sex you have in store for him? After a little excitement like this, both of you should enjoy eachother even more and want to do it more often.....Hugs! & good luck

From an evolutionary point of view, yes. Males want variety because they have this subconsious urge to procreate and have as many babies with as many woman as possible.
However, anthropology and evolution has nothing to do with today's society of a relationship is. Not all men want to cheat and not all men are meant to be in monogomous relationships. So I agree with you on some level. However, a truly "evolved" man actually enjoys spending their life with one partnet for the rest of their life (or however long it takes for the relationship to last before it goes downhill).

If you can beak your primal desires to cheat and screw around then you can have true love. When your in a relationship no matter how hard you fight it you will be attracted to the other sex regardless. But what you can do is just realize that what you have with your current relationship is great, and if you keep the passion going and make it exciting you can have true love and be less enticed.
But thats just me, I mean I know a lot of people dont follow that its just a rule I made for myself so that I can secure happiness with me and a girl that I love someday.

All men want variety in their sexlife, that's true. But it comes at a high price. Making just one woman love you, trust you and pleasure you takes effort. Unless she is a slut, a girl will not give herself in every way you want it before you show her you will always be there for her. For variety you would have to treat more woman as if they are the queen godesses of the earth and that would just take waaaaaaaay too much work, money and stamina. Call me lazy, but I'll stick with my wife...

Are you saying female mammals naturally only mate with one partner during their entire life-time? In fact, what are you saying?
If you're going to draw conclusions with this type of comparison, you better get your head around the fact that the majority of female "mammals" are only interested in mating with the superior male of the species!
So ..... if your supposition is correct - where would that leave your spotty skinny white butt?
Get a grip.

Well, no matter what your views are, whether you look at the biological make-up of a man, or even straight religious beliefs/history, men are designed to heavily pro-create.
Yes, that would include the situation/problem (however you view it) that would cause a man to look to multiple partners.
Some societies, it's how things are, in others, it is greatly frowned upon.
Not using it as an excuse, but men are specifically engineered to behave in such a manner.

Ok, I imagine i'll get flagged for this, even though I don't intend it as bigotry.
look at blacks, who are still trying to adapt to Western society. people don't seem to remember that it's only been a few generations since we stole them and a few years since we forced them to act like us. African society was drastically different, much of it being matriarchal. Many females now, and not all, mind you, choose to stay single and have multiple partners...is that just natural? seeing as how white people fight human nature at all costs, maybe some blacks who are possibly in tune with instinct have it right...

It matters not what happens in the natural world. Our "civilized" world is governed by human beings who dictate the "laws" by which we live (as opposed to the laws of nature), and those include moral laws. Human beings created morals, and therefore the need to repress our natural desires. But, as humans, we also have the ability to reason that if we want less sexual restriction, less repression of our natural desires, then we don't enter into those situations which would require that we not have what we want-namely relationships such as marriage.
