Depends where it is and the quality of the food. Have a look on www.tripadvisor.com to see what other guests have said about the food. If the food is excellent then there is no reason not to. The only downside is that it is usually "house" drinks which means their local vodka instead of your usual brand etc. The other thing is if you are there for local nightlife you are going to be drinking outside the hotel more than in it. If you are on one of those Sandals resorts as a couple or if you are in a huge complex it is better value than if you are on a busy resort which usually competes for value anyway. Are there more than 1 restaurant at the hotel? You might not fancy eating at the same place every night. Some places have an italian, a buffet and a pizza place to offer variety - it would be good value there. You should do your homework and work out how much a local meal and drinks would cost and do the sums.

All inclusive holidays are the best way to go. All inclusive means that you have unlimited drinks (different resorts have time frames on when alcholic drinks are available during the day). Food is unlimited. Between meals, there are snake bars which have fruits, sandwiches, french fries etc. You don't need to worry about that extra cash that would be spending on food and drinks. Most Caribbean countries are all inclusive. The all inclusive resorts/hotels do cater to the North American taste with some local dishes to try. Some even have themed dinners on certain nights of the week. Most have at least 2 a la carte restaurants for fine dinning. However, do check when booking a all day sight seeing tour that lunch and/or dinner and drinks are included. Not all sight seeing tours include the drinks.

I Have to agree too - All inclusive is definately the way to go. I went to St Lucia. Usually they have some restrictions on the all inclusive bit like only local beers and spirits are free. but definately take extra money as we found out in the REX Resort Rodney bay.

We went out and about exploring just after the tank was Full!!

Recommend the Brig Unicorn trip (Black pearl) if you get a chance to go to St Lucia although I'd steer clear of the local Rum punch seriously powerful stuff- possibly what we werent drinking they were using to power the boat!

If you all you want to do is put your feet up and relax without the hassle of searching for food and drink, they are very good. The fact that they are all inclusive, you're also not spending much more money once you are there.

The catch is is that food is only served at certain times and you will typically only be served local drinks. Also don't expect 5 star cuisine. You'll get something that is average and won't win any culinary prizes.

Can be good as there is usually loads to eat and drink but you do miss out on trying the local hospitality and getting an atmosphere. I suppose it depends how bothered you are to try local things and as others have said does pend where you are and for how long. Doesn't always work out cheaper though as you can get really good deals in some local bars and restaurants and think when there is too much food you tend to overdose and then not eat much, bit like the pizza hut buffets!! Eyes bigger than bellies!! Either that or you have to join a gym on your return because you really did get your monies worth! I'd check out whats included and what local choices there are first!

Depends where you go. A lot of All Inclusive bars shut earlier or have a cut of time for "free" drinks (like midnight).
Most only include local drinks (i.e. cheap weak vodka etc) and if there is only one bar you end up queuing for ages.
Having said that, I've been on 5 or 6 and never had a bad one. I would advise booking a decent hotel though as you get what you pay for.

In my experience of travelling (which is pretty vast I assure you!) very few (only around 15 percent) of hotels offering all inclusive actually provide decent meals. I have resigned myself to the fact that you are better going self catering. Just budget for eating out most of the time - asking around you'll soon find where's good and where isnt good to eat :)

relies upon on what you advise by technique of inexpensive...what's the funds? do you want air protected. declaring is going you get what you pay for. there are one of those low-value resorts I in common words go back and forth all inclusive. that is how one might want to bypass. also when you're going over vacations which will actually develop your value. maximum Mexico places you'll locate large bargains...Jamaica besides as Punta Cana. inspect the internet web site below they could get you some large rates in case you provide the ideas mandatory.

Absolutely. I have been to the Bahamas and Jamaica on both types of vacation and all-inclusive is definitely easier. Esp. if you have kids.
Starfish Trelawney in Jamaica and Viva Fortuna in the Bahamas is where we went.
