I was reading an answer where somebody thanked God for saving him from dying in a plane crash. That made me wonder...

A plane crash occurred. 540 people died, 17 survived.

Did God save 17 people? Did He save 17 people _and_ kill 540? Didn't he play any role in this? Did God save 17, and Satan killed 540? 540 people probably had the wrong religion?

In short: how does God work in playing a part in our daily lives?

Short answer: He/She doesn't.

Longer answer: In the example given, it could be that the 17 survivors were all sitting in the same section of the plane and were somehow sheltered from the impact more than the other 540 passangers (btw that's a HUGE freakin plane).

This is one of the oldest questions out there. If by allowing 540 to perish and 17 live who is responsible.
the man that said he knows GOD saved him must be saved and be a true believer that is why he knows, for many it was time for them, some may have been evil, most were probably decent hard working people and a number would have been Christians. I have seen several people that were given months to live be prayed over and the next Doctors visit the cancer be gone, i have also know an 11y/o girl that died of cancer. God does many things that are beyond our realm of thought. satan only has as much control as you allow him, God is all powerful.

God works in us by influencing how we live our lives , but only after we have obeyed his word and are serving him faithfully everyday. That is where FAITH comes in to a Christians life.
Unwavering, unquestioning FAITH.
Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed; Blessed are they that have not seen me and yet believed. And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: But these are written that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing ye might have life through his name.

According to Ecclesiastes 9:11, "time and unforseen occurrence befall us all."

I hope this is not leading to another proof that there is no god...

If you have faith, you believe and you do not ask questions.
If someone asks question you say :" god moves in mysterious ways". That's it.
