can you get a power cord for a TI-83 calc?

I guess what I am asking is if the USB cord used for transfering data can also be used to supply power to the calc or is it battery powered only?

They can be bought at simple educational websites or through the TI-83 calculator provider but I also believe that they run on double A batteries if that is what you are looking for.
